Look, the movie has some very awful art direction mistakes, since the movie is shot in Jordan, the arab speaking characters in the movie were mixed between Iraqi and Jordanian, the set of the city as Baghdad is not very good, I really do not get this western look at middle-eastern cities as a couple of mud houses in the middle of the desert, Baghdad is actually a huge city, and anybody who've been there would tell you it's not narrow dirt roads, it's a true metropolis. Nevertheless, I do not suppose the movie had a big budget to get it right, the cast were near unkowns, so it's fine. What's important about every movie is the content. The hurt Locker is one very clever movie, it is pure suspense, the reactions of all the characters, Iraqis and Americans to events is very well thought of, and even though I'm an Iraqi, I cared more for the american soldiers, and felt real close to them, and since I exprienced the war first hand, I can tell this is a very, very well made movie. There is no noisy shootouts and bombs blowing off unexpectedly from nowhere. Whoever you are, or where you are from, this movie will get on the edge of your seats, and for a war movie, the screenplay is very good. Expecting Oscar nominations at least for Bolt(Script), Bigelow(Director), Renner(Actor) and Best Picture. A near masterpiece.

This movie is wonderful, I do not know why this movie is not getting air time it deserves. Outstanding must see, and then tell your friends to go see it!!!! Great story line and just enough action-nothing else to say.

SInce returning from service in Iraq, this was the first film that I had any interest in seeing about Iraq, and I am glad that I did. I was an Infantry Officer that served in Iraq from March 2007-July 2008. My job was to escort EOD teams (What The Hurt Locker is about) to bombs that my soldiers and local civilians found and then secure the site where they worked to diffuse IED's and UXO (unexploded ordnance). Basically, I did what the character Sanborn did. For the most part, I found The Hurt Locker to be very accurate in its portrayal of what it is like to be on the ground/front line in Iraq. The challenges we faced in not knowing who was our friend/who was our enemy is very well done in this movie. The movie pretty much goes through most of the various scenarios that an average soldier would face in Iraq. There were a lot of minor inconsistencies that only a soldier who served in Iraq would notice, but I wouldnt expect hollywood to get everything right. For example, about 75% of the scenarios the characters find themselves in would never happen to an EOD team (of the 9 EOD teams I worked with , they dismounted from their vehicles only about 20% of the time.. and they would NEVER clear a building on their own, or assault an enemy position by themselves, let alone have the skill/expertise to fire a Barrett .50 cal sniper rifle that only 50% of the people that attend Sniper school can even do.) But basically, I viewed these inconsistencies in a positive way as a movie goer. The director uses three characters who the audience gets to know and care about, and is able to flesh them out as human beings so that you begin to care what happens to them.... you feel like you know what is going through their mind; she then uses these three characters to project the experience that the rest of us ground combat troops had... it wouldln't have worked to jump around from an EOD squad to an infantry squad that clears buildings, to a military intelligence interr...
