This was pure dumb blond, but it had me laughing all the way through - not a bad way to spend an afternoon. I really got a kick out of it. Now just to put this in perspective for you, I read the classics, love Jane Austen, Bronte, and love great filmmaking - and I do like to laugh and lighten up a little from time to time. We tolerated it hoping that the expectations set by the hilarious previews would eventually surface but they never did. We left deflated and disappointed. The theater was empty on a friday night. Like so many other media venues, it serves the purpose of keeping women in the "box" where men have always strived to keep us. I won't go into a boring detailed analysis because either a woman can see it or she can't. Compare the movie "Contact" with Jodie Foster (1997). The basic idea behind House Bunny had a great opportunity to deliver a meaningful message, but totally failed & was just another step backward for female equality in our society.
The majority of the audience was female. It did not appear that any of them, myself included, left the Theater feeling better about themselves. Was this review helpful? Regarding the movie...it definitely had it's funny moments. But it was so darn offensive. Still, it was entertaining offensive. Should've thought about that knowing it came from Adam Sandler. It was rather boring though. Reminded me of Sydney White, only that wasn't quite as boring, and certainly their was better acting going on. The laughs I don't think were worth sitting there for an hour and a half watching some pretty laaaaaaaaaaame acting (Girls from Girls Next Door, Hugh, and crazy deep voiced, hunch backed shemale) Also, Rumer Willis, you are spoiled.....and odd looking. I hope you fail, simply because I saw you on T.V. throwing a tantrum about your celebrity status. Anna Farris, you are so cute, I just can't enough of your perkiness and bubbleheadedness :) Was this review helpful? I found her character endearing when she could smile even when her feelings were hurt. But, that Carrie Ann chick lurking around with the guy voice completely made me ill. Maybe some people found her funny, but it didn't work for me. Overall, it's worth the ticket price for a matinee show. Simple, charming, and non-complicated. Oh, there's the guy who likes having the purple nurple applied - wow. Was this review helpful?
