After reading all the reviews on this site I felt compelled to see the movie. I was expecting a disturbing look at humans capabilities. What I got was a decent B slasher film. It was ok nothing earth shattering. Oh, and the rape seen I was expecting something so terrible I would have to turn away in pain what I got was a 15 second lame excuse for a seen. I agree that the film could do with out it but really it is no big deal. Over all if you want a decent slasher flick check it out. Otherwise pass, you wont be missing anything.

When I saw this, I about cryed my eyes out...I couldnt believe all of the gore and when the father was burning, and the girl got raped...I was in shock. I did however...sigh finish the movie. I am sad that anything could ever happen like that...Yes, I know its real but dang. Well, there is a second one coming out. I hope the family survives though. I wont see it though, so sigh.

This movie came across as what would happen if we gave a 13 year old boy who displays sociopathic and serial rapist tendencies and an obsession with violent video games 55,000 quarts of fake blood and said make a movie. This was the most disgusting, deeply disturbing movie ever made and these writers need to be put away for life in a mental hospital. If you can think up this stuff, you dont need to be in society. Who thinks of mutants raping a 15 year old, (@ing the milk out of her older sisters breast, and igniting the father on a cross in front of the whole family and leave him to burn to death?!?!?! Not only was the movie that disturbing, but it never explained who the guy was at the gas station helping the mutants, and why they were such sociopaths-psychopaths. Negative 200 stars, my friend and I are in group therapy after this.

This movie was the worst I have ever seen. It leaves you feeling filthy and disgusted at everything. Completely tasteless. I had to turn it off not long after the rape scene. This shouldnt be allowed on screen.

Oh my god i love this movie!!!the best movie i have ever seen!!!!! the movie is freaky at some parts like when doug is fighting the big motherFer and he gets 2 of his fingers cut off. then he stabbs him in the head with the american flag and stabbs him in the face with the pickaxe. and when the HALO guy gets stabbed in the back. then he gets stabbed trought the head with a pickaxe.this movie is soo gory. if u have a small child under the age of 13 wanting to see this. say no. a guy gets his head blown off by a shotgun. but i love this movie. it is the best movie ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

its been about a month since i was unfortunate enough to spend money on this film and just the thought about the girl being raped as the mutants laughed and the dad screamed tied to the tree burning alive outside makes my bloody run cold and feel sick.while watching this crap i prayed that what was about to happen didnt. is this what horrors are now being defined as? If this review and the others ive seen are seen as a vicory from the director and other professional involvement due to having a effect on the viewers then i question our society with great sadness. the story does not make you think about the American government and their inconcideration about nuclear testing, if they had thought about the plot to a degree of competentness it could have, but this just shat all over the boundaries of making people jump. i was happy to find some relief of complete incompetence which made me laugh with a that dog, the convienence of the flat tyre and the pathetic ending of realisation theyre all dead anyway. Even the sight of the girl in the continuing scenes following the rape scene made me feel uneasy. Really people. dont see this film. its just morally wrong, if you do then live with the concequences of being disturbed.

Most women do not want to see this movie. Period. As a 30 year old woman who is a wife and mother I spent the whole movie switching between the characters. I mean there were the peoples kids (which of course I could identify with) and the young married couple (which I am right now) and their small baby girl (which I have) and the older married couple (which I will be). Every single time something terrible happened to someone I could identify with how they must be feeling! It was terrible and right on target at the same time! There were so many times that I could barely breathe because they did their jobs in conveying their terror, sorrow, horror, confusion, frustrat ion! When the ladys husband was burned I immediately put myself in his wifes place and then his kids and so on...then the young married girl. It goes on and on, you will only understand if you watch it and have a soul. Its a cruel masterpiece if you can take it. I only know a handful of women that could make it through this film...Beware!

This movie, like all movies has its strong points as well as its weak points, though in my opinion, its weaknesses and failures far outweigh what redeeming factors it may posses. An american family pays for crimes commited by the US government. Though the mutants are ugly and primitive. The director brings many important themes to light. the mutants are cunning they may not have higher schooling, but they are as clever as anyone else the mutants are still human Not all of the mutants are beings capable only of evil. They are still subject to all the needs as normal people but have developed ways of satisfying those needs in the harsh purgatory that they were born into. Many people have complained about the cannibalism and the rape scene, but i think they were effective ways at rendering the pitiful situation of the mutants. should we be punished for the crimes of our fathers, of our government? the answer obviously is no but are americans today being punished for the faults of our fathers, of our government? the answer is yes, the movie strikes a nerve that is very close to home. the negative parts of the movie were the ineffective directing and rendering would a retired decorated police officer whos about to start his own security firm fire off 4 shots from a 6 shot revolver into the night for no reason other than hearing voices? I think not. Its the ineffective rendering of the scenes and actions such as the one I just stated that clutter and destroy what important themes the director is trying to portray. So in short, The Hills Have Eyes is definately a good thriller and has many recurring themes, but its rendering is amateur at best.

Where do you draw the line between creative and shock treatment. I love the ring and I loved the sixth sense. They would fall into the category of two of the scariest movies I have ever seen that dont include any real gore at all. Wes Craven is a genious in the fact that he accomplished a hatred for every mutant in the movie. Wes Craven makes you forget that these people were told to leave their homes and lives and then were bombed and transformed into things to ugly to go into the real world. He turns what should be sympathy for these people into hatred for these people. He touched the animal lover, the family man who looks at his daughter as his little girl (this was touched with the rape and the kidnapping), the loving family who puts their father on a pedestal (Wes Craven had him hanging up on something not quite a pedestal), and anyone who was just plain out gore and blood sensitive. The revenge scene is a little far fetched but reinvigorating if you decided to stay for the whole movie. My only concern in this and I am sure the concern of many is the rape scene, however, we must remember movies like the clock work orange, which glorified its villains for such acts. The twist in this movie is that it is such a brutal scene, which includes the neglect of her brother-in-law to even notice it happening. I think this hits close to home, accomplishes Wes Cravens goal, but also took a lot away from the film. This was the perfect time to come out with this movie. Anyone who did not like this go see hostel, Quentin Tarentino lacks creativity, but also makes Wes Craven look like he should be playing in the sand box at the park and oh yeah the gore in hostel made the desert in The Hills Have Eyes look like a sandbox filled with fun and games.

This is a horror movie, have no illusions about that. People are winning that it isnt realistic. Well its a horror movie! What do you expect oscar material? This movie could make Hannible Lector flinch. The rape scene was uncalled for but it either removes you from your seat or glues you down in shock or awe. I think that for what it was it was well done of course there were some things that couldve been fixed but what can ya do? I thought the ending was great. The little girl in the hoody brought a sense of hummanity to the film that the main character almost lost. I knew the red neck hairlip guy was the worst. I do love how the dog became the hero figure of the movie along with the dad. Everyone in the theater and my freinds and I cheered when he killed the big headed gimpy guy. I just remember watching the last showing of night and just realizing that it is not a bed time movie. I would recomend but not to those who arent a little desensitized.

The thing I am most sure on is that people who did not like this movie never saw the origional. Before you see this movie, see the origional because the premise of both movies are somewhat unique (other than the obvious similarities to Wrong Turn). I think Alexeandre Aja took a cult classic and took it one step further. This fil was alot more violent, bloddier, and emotionaly trying. That is why people have gotten up to leave the theatre. There is one scene in particular where the Hill-Men have a gun pointed at the baby while he sexually assaults the mother of the child. Thats when about 90 of the people walked out. People need to realize that this movie comes from Wes Craven that back in his earlier career was the man responsible for The Last House on the Left which itself was a visually brutal movie. I think this is the horror move, hardcore horror fans have been waiting for. Throw out your Grudges and Rings and try this out. Itll make you sick, itll make you jump, and it will make you want more.

The movie wasnt worth the 14 dollars I spent to see it. The beginning gave away what was out there, how they got that way and where this movie was going. The only thing the beginning didnt give away was how disturbed the movie was. I like a good horror film, but this was more of a evil than a horror film. I thought well maybe this movie wasnt my taste until i noticed about 10 out of the 30 people, the ten werent together it was seperate couples, get up and leave right around the burning the father trailer rape scene. Which brings up something I found odd, if they were mutants and never had civilized connections how do they know about sex and why didnt they mess with the mutant girl with the hoddie? At about when the dog killed the first mutant, which played no role other than laughing, we had lost another ten people in the theatre and my friends were discussing about leaving! We left! By some ungodly chance my date forgot her coat and I ofcourse went in to get it. There was one couple left in there and by the looks of it they were packing up. I would say this movie should have been turned down before it was released and redone, but hey what do I know Im only the paying customer!

Honestly it barely phased me, i laughed at it a lot, and im sure mostly because of how stupid some of the scenes were. The plot of this movie leaves a lot to be desired and leaves a lot of questions. The old man who is aparently the father to these mutants kills himself for an unknown reason. In the beginning of the movie he is given a human ear...but we dont kno why. He talks about being finished with whatever he does...but we still dont know what IT is! Why didnt the guy die who got his head pounded in over n over by the mutants? Wouldnt he die from loss of blood by now? Why would some little girl kill herself to save a man and his baby? We can figure that she has not had a normal life, but it is still quite far from reality. When the father of the family gets into the car in the scene when he gets attacked...you would think that he would have seen something in the car possible, and the voice echoing throughout the area where he was standing...that was pretty bogus if you ask me. At the end of the movie (which was one of the worst endings ive ever seen), i noticed that there was still pretty much wet blood on the back of the man who marched through the DESERT after he had been in a pool of blood probibly at least two hours before. These people were wearing long sleeves and coats in the desert. I think that if i was in the desert, id take off a few layers...but the sunbathing girl had the right idea, shes the only one though. The truth is that this is a movie and there will be faults in any movie...but this film is pretty sick, for someone to come up with this, they must havea very troubled life. I really feel they crossed the line when they burned the father in front of his family, as a distraction so they could rape the girls. But i know its what people want, i was easily able to sit through this movie...but it was still pretty disturbing, my friends came out trembling, and they quite frequently go to the theater for a horror or gory flick.
