It was a brilliant and truly frightning film that work on so many level.It was well directed by Takashi Shimizu,well written by Stephen Susco and well acted by a very decent cast led by the gorgeous and talented Sarah Michelle Gellar.
In short...there`s nothing more to say....i love this film!!!!! Was this review helpful? Even though it is very good, BUT the movie lacked a certain element to scare the audience

Sign In 0 out of 2 users found this helpful (is creeped out by Kayako's moving)Posted: 3/19/2005A review of The Grudge by -k_i_g_n_a_k- love this movie, its one of the scariest movies ive seen so far. me i think the movie is about what people would do if that actually happened to someone, curiousity and getting scared work here. if you like thrillers i think you'll like this movie...when i watched this i felt the tension in the room making the movie just that much more scary...people saying omg and whoa did you see that? this movie isnt recomended if your weak hearted or if your a little kid thats like say Toshio's age. other then that...great horror movie! not much of a storyline but has a story in it when i first watched it i was all omg whose next and how are they going to die? never knew a person painted blue can be scary as hell...by the way love the stair scene holy crap that was freaky Was this review helpful? But not this one. In this movie, they took regular people, gave them bad makeup jobs, messed up their hair, and called them ghosts. I could not get past the ridiculous frog-like noises that a ghost made to be scared of it. The special effects looked like swirling hair. I think this must be a low budget movie or something. The story line was very weak. When you finally realize why "The grudge" exists, it seems stupid.
As for the people who thought this movie was scary - I don't think horror movies are your thing. If you really want to be scared of noises like that, visit a pond at night and save your money. The point of a horror movie is to just sink down into your chair, grab the arm of whoever is sitting next to you and try not to scream out loud! I am a HUGE horror movie buff (I've practically been raised on them.) But, I'm so tired of blood and guts . . . boring.
Few movies have really CREEPED me out to the point that I can't walk around my house at night. This one, however, did just that. (Did I mention I'm 28 years old?)
Eeewww, that gurgling sound still freaks me out!

All I can say about this movie is there is 2 hours of my life I will never get back. The scariest thing about the movie was that it would never end.
What was supposed to be anticipation was just boring. I wanted to scream. I wanted to scream "walk faster, just open the damn door. "
If you have seen The Ring, don't bother watching this one. At least The Ring had some kind of plot, even if it was stupid.
If you are scared of long black hair then this movie will scare you. If you are not then don't waste your time or money. (Ditto with croaking frog noises)
The Ring made some money so they thought they could do it again. They couldn't.
If there was a rating of -star, that is what I would give it. The best thing about the movie is the credits so you know it is FINALLY over. Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 3 users found this helpful worst movie everPosted: 2/5/2005A review of The Grudge by Craftiest---007--- "deep blue sea" used to hold its place as the worst movie i have ever seen...but "the grudge" has just replaced it. whenever the actors or actresses or some completely ridiculous circumstance happens people always say "well its just a movie..." but there are so many times that line can be used. the movie really doesnt make much sense, and the characters do not use their brains at all. the whole time i just kept wanting to scream at the characters saying "are you serious?!" also i am not really sure what relevance the gurgling frog noises had. it was basically the same idea as "the ring." a spreading evilness...the use of the phones...the same black hair covering the face of the "evil one"...sound familiar? i guess i cant be too hard on this movie though...i mean it did make me laugh quite a bit...or was that not the point of it? Sign In 3 out of 6 users found this helpful the grudge was badPosted: 2/4/2005A review of The Grudge by DJ_TEMA Alright, this movie was bad. ma friends saw it in the new paper and they said it was good. i went for my friends birthday. i laughed my "A" off through the whole thing. i got everyone mad because i wouldn't stop laughing. i cant believe people would waste thier money on making such a bad movie instead of giving it away to charity or sometin. the only thing that mite have made me jump wus the loud music. it took forever to start and forever to end. if thier was -5 stars that would be a good rating. i love horror movies but this movie doesnt count. if i wanted a comedy i coulda watched chappelle show reruns.......
