We then went back & watched the theatrical ending. What a butchery of the movie! No wonder people didn't like the ending. I think the movie folks wanted a more open ending for a sequel and be damned the value of the movie. ALWAYS check out the alternate ending first because that is usually what the writers wanted. The boom microphone was in almost every indoor sceen. And I'm not talking just a "What was that near the ceiling?" either. At times (many of them) you could see the ENTIRE microphone boom! It made me laugh through the whole movie! The question should not be, "What is stealing the children?" but should be "Who is following us around with an 10 foot boom mic over our heads and why don't we see them?!!!" It was so bad, I couldn't even concentrate on the plot.
There were times I jumped, but more than anything, I just laughed with my boyfriend. We even stayed to watch the credits and see who the mic operator was (afterall, they were the star of the show). Bravo; good job; can we say "unemployment"? Was this review helpful? It has been a while since both of us had our hearts pop out of our chests several times. Although I'm not a big fan of Julienne Moore and didn't think the acting was the greatest, I thought it was an interesting story and had enough to keep you interested.
If you plan to watch this, DO NOT watch the theatrical version until you have watched the "Extended version with alternate ending". The alternate ending was MUCH better, and was a nice wrap-up to the story. The original theatrical ending was cheesy and ruined the film. Was this review helpful? The end needs work, and needs true closure, but other than that, it's a classic Sci-fi thrill ride. Was this review helpful? There are some slow parts, yet there are times where I jumped. Just a great movie from beginning to end, with a great ending. If you can't see it at the theater then you must rent. I enjoyed watching it but would rather have waited for the DVD or to see it on Satellite TV....... Was this review helpful? If you are an X-Files fan, you will love this movie.
Julianne Moore gives a powerful and convincing performance as does Dominic West.
How much longer until the next X-Files movie comes out?

My expectations were too high. People said it kept you guessing up until the end, but I pretty much had it figured out by then. The jump out of your seat parts were great though. Liked the acting. The ending wasn't terribly satisfying. I don't know what could have made it better. Was this review helpful? I believe this movie was headed into the right direction early on, with the story having a growing interest. Then, somewhere in the middle the producers lost us in a ridiculous twist of predictable scenarios. There were some bright spots relating to shock factor, where the audience will jump up out their seats. My advice, wait for TV, because this movie is not worth your theatre ticket nor an exciting date. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 1 users found this helpful Posted: 10/16/2004A review of The Forgotten by nakattack84 Just saw this one, I thought it was a mixed bag of good and bad. Unfortunately it was mostly the bad that stuck out. There was a little bit of over acting in some scenes, but overall the performances were dead on. The plot was very intriguing, but i thought the pacing was little slow, the first hour just really drags out. The "abduction" scenes were pretty cool and made myself and everyone in the theater jump. but thats when things started to get screwey, the explanation for the strange events in the film turns out to be a plot you might find in a bad anime, or a bad episode of the X-Files. The ending seemed a little rushed and out of place in my opinion, i'd say wait till you can rent it to check this one out Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
