Date  Helpful Rating 0 out of 0 users found this helpful  meh, Val was great, not accurate thook so first off i would like to say that Val Kilmer played Jim perfectly..well as close to it as you come. but the movie overall...it just isnt that accurate. its still pretty good, its just that it only portrays Jim as a raging alcoholic madman and goes little beyond that. and the relationship between John (the drummer) and Jim in the movie just make Jim look like a complete asshol. and the scenes with the reporter (her name slips my mind right now) is just way overplayed. sure Jim hooked up with her at times, but he would always go back to Pamela (Meg Ryans character). instead this movie just looks like Jim has two girlfriends at the same time...i dont know..the concert scenes were great but i think that indian ghost was kinda irrelevant and unnecessary. so if you want to know the basic history of The Doors...watch this movie. if you want to find the truth as well as an insight to The Doors and Jim Morrison look for a book entitled Break On Through i ve seen it at Barnes Noble lately and have already read it. i highly recommend the book, but the movie..well..i give it a B Was this review helpful? Val Kilmer's portrayal will always be remembered as one of his best performances. I SAW Jim Morrison when I watched this movie. I viewed it twice at the theater also. Life and all its strangeness was revealed to us. Family pain and its resulting complexes revealed. The just plain unfairness of your 'ride' on the storm is revealed in this movie. The whole point being - you leave something beautiful behind - regardless... as Jim has done.Thank you Mr. Oliver. Thank you Jim. Thank you to The Doors. Was this review helpful? One of the reviewers ";Sarah"; is a sad, misguided soul that in my belief has no idea who or what Jim Morrison was. He WAS a drunk, Party animal. And when people came up to him on the street or at parties and offered him drugs or whatever, instead of just taking a puff and putting some away in his pocket for later, Jim would Take EVERYTHING he was given on the spot, right then and there!! But you see he was also a very talented writer and singer. They portrayed all of this in the film. You must have been watching something else. I understand, your apology is accepted:) Now as far as Val Kilmer being the only one on the screen that showed us something, WRONG again!! Every actor had an equal part in showing us the true side of our fabled Lizard King...As long as this film is watched Jim Morrison will keep on Risin'....";MOJO RISIN'"; that is!!
