However i cannot stand the fact that keanu reeves name came first. just about any actor could do that easy Lomax role but pacinos role was only for the masters . never try it again boy you are not with the greats yet. Keanu Reavus is a spectacular actor and so is Al Pacino. Al Pacino Knows how to make a good movie like this suspenceful. I really liked the backgrounds, like the 3D effects in the part when Kevin Lomex {Keanu Reaves} kills himself that was awsome. This movie does make you think though, do we really need fame and so, so much money and a huge place to live to be happy and have a family well I'll leave that up to you the viewers to decide. This movie has supper great special effects. I like the dark side this movie gives us like how it goes from the dark side and then back to the normal life. It does that through out the movie. The ending really makes you think did Kevin Lomex do the right thing or not. I believe he did, but it's up to you to figure what you think. This film is a little bit too polished up though. I think its a bit too far fetched that he gets his wife back in the end. Unfair because life is never like that. Sign In 1 out of 2 users found this helpful Vanity or Love and freedomPosted: 1/4/2003A review of The Devil's Advocate by Nataliya281 I would not say that this movie is a simple horror or drama.The movie carres out the most important question we all have to face every day: ";What do I want: money, fame or pure soul for the future after-death paradise?";Every day we make a choice what is really a sin.Vanity is temptation, money as well, if I am a brilliant attorney (Keanu Reaves) will I win the case if I do know the guy is 100% guilty?Whom do I owe my achievements: education, intelligence, parents, God, or maybe Devil?At the break point the main hero the Attorney at Law knowing the Guy is pedophile and probably sexually harrased not one girl, turns the Law to his favour. He wins.He is being tempted by New Yorker (Al Pachino) the owner of the big juridical corporation: new money, social status, exciting work, another women. He becomes a selebrity.But everything has it is own price: he looses his wife (wrapped by the Devil) that he had to put is the Mad house, the trust of her mother, who finally tells him, who was his father.And the tempting new lower appeares to be his sister, eager to born him a child, his wife was not able to do.But there is always ";Free will"; and new Attorney choses suiside then rather to be manipulated by his owner and father - the Devil (Al Pachino).But Devil is strong enoth to turn the time back to the break point and take another face and tempt him with other thing - to become a Selebrity as a Non-conformistic Lawer. He takes the face of a famous journalist.And remind at the end of the movie transferring into the Devil ";Vanity is my favorite sin";What will you choose: Bright side or Dark side?How will you know the difference?What will you sacrifice?
