The plot, acting and directing were/are superlative even by today's standards. But most fascinating of all was
the fact that the movie took place in Washington
where some of my family resided before their passing,so the scenery was so familiar from early childhood onward. Even at such a tender age I could sense the wisdom of Klaatu's message for this planet. It truly caused great grief that too many humans were and are still so very xenohobic,
violent and ignorant of the fact that All Life is precious and should be shown the reverence that (All Life;E.T. or not) deserves. Feelings haven't changed a bit now that this person's reaching Senior status in the realm of 60 years plus. I still find that child remaining inside wishing with all my heart that people ,world-wide ,would pay great attention to the message of this film. The Day the Earth Stood Still certainly has much to teach the human race even after 53 years!!
Was this review helpful? I'd like to make a plea to all the producers/directors looking for material to remake. Please! Remake this one! The recipe is simple. A dash of "World Peace", mixed with a generous helping of "The Fugitive", punctuated by tincture of "Star Trek". It's a no-lose concoction. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-2 of 2 Per Page | ||
