Vince did the movie just to hook up with Jen Was this review helpful? If you submit feedback on this review in the future, we will overwrite your previous feedback. Sign in 28 out of 44 users found this helpful Posted: 6/6/2006A review of The Break-Up by megzdiamond The movie started off really slow by having a 20 minute fight segment between aniston and vaughn which I think everyone could relate to, but didnt want to sit and listen to...it picked up after that and I thought it was actually quite funny. Vince did a good job of acting like the insensitive slob of a boyfriend and Jen did a good job of being the I know I can change him hopeful girlfriend. Even though it ended stupid it was actually pretty realistic and it was a good set-up for a sequel. I thought they had good chemistry and they played off eachother well. Vaughns just a funny guy and Aniston is just gorgeous and thats basically all they showed us. Was this review helpful? Sign in 25 out of 49 users found this helpful Posted: 6/6/2006A review of The Break-Up by Mira643 This movie is just a scene from my life. I dont say guys are jerks and so on. BUT! If a woman is happy , she is not gonna fight about 3 lemons instead of 12 or about help washing dishes. The guy from the movie is selfish, he doesnt want to work on relationship, talk about misunderstandings. And unfortunatelly women usually dont say what they want right away, they like to hint. And guys dont understand their hints. The movie is funny. I dont like Aniston, but she was really good in that movie. I agree with CubsRule!about Vaughn puts in a good effort but they didnt give him much to work with. I like the end. Anyway serious relationship is not a honeymoon or vacation, we need to work on it, care and enjoy. Was this review helpful? Sign in 27 out of 44 users found this helpful Posted: 6/6/2006A review of The Break-Up by S197GT First off, the ending is horrible!!! I wont ruin it for you but their was an audible gasp by many of the women in the theater when the credits came up and they were left thinking, What?! Thats the end?!!!
The critics were actually right about this one. Too much immature arguing and antics and not enough humor! I felt like I was living my childhood over again watching my parents argue! The issue that sets Aniston off? Vaughns character brings home 3 lemons instead of 12. Real life, yes, but something you want to watch 2 people argue about for 5-10 minutes??? No.
Vaughn puts in a good effort but they didnt give him much to work with. He comes off as a real jerk in this movie. Aniston is still hot but she comes off as weak and manipulating. Typical stereotypes I guess but not really funny and not very mature.
And some scenes you just wonder why they are even in the movie. Was this review helpful? If you submit feedback on this review in the future, we will overwrite your previous feedback. The movie didnt flow from scene to scene sometimes and wasnt worth the ticket price. Save your money! Was this review helpful? Instead, pick a mean and petty fight with the person you love the most. Make it last a couple hours, and complain about it to everyone you know. Dont take anyones advice, and dont resolve anything or say you are sorry. Take the money you saved, and go see a good movie. Or at least, go see a movie that doesnt upset the audience. This movie was so miserable everyone in our theater stopped laughing about a third of the way through, became dead silent for the rest of the movie, and seemed genuinely glad when it was over. I know I was. Was this review helpful? If you submit feedback on this review in the future, we will overwrite your previous feedback. Sign in 8 out of 9 users found this helpful Posted: 6/5/2006A review of The Break-Up by altorres4 I love Jennifer Aniston and think shes a great actress, but this movie fell a little bit short compared to some of her other ones. I loved the ending, it ended realistically. (and a set-up for The Break-Up 2) Its what happens to many people in the real world. Im not a big Vince Vaughn fan, and this movie didnt help. It was unfortunate that you could hear the negative reaction to the movies end and most people were pissed to say the least.
However, I thought it was a good romantic comedy - entertaining and fun. I would recommend it. Was this review helpful? It hits the relationship right on the head. Ignore the negative remarks...if you are smart enough to understand what a romantic comedy is then you should have your expectations fufilled. For those of you who are not, it is not a documentary, thriller, mystery nor drama. Was this review helpful? Sign in 8 out of 11 users found this helpful Posted: 6/5/2006A review of The Break-Up by Isbellpro This was a very depressing movie. There was not enough humor in it to balance out the depressing storyline. The theater was full and the audience actually booed at the climax towards the end and you could hear muttering of disappointment as the credits rolled.
I left feeling empty and sad and not a good movie sad, but an I wish I didnt just watch that sad. You definitely dont want to see it on a date, or if you are in a bad relationship, or a good relationship, or if you are single. Honestly, I dont know who should go see it.
And of course I couldnt help thinking it was an odd story for Jennifer, who had such a public breakup, to be doing with her new boyfriend. Was this review helpful? Sign in 7 out of 9 users found this helpful Posted: 6/5/2006A review of The Break-Up by Angeluke My mom and I were so looking forward to seeing this movie for weeks this is the one we wanted to see and even went and saw it the day it came out which we hardly ever do, but I must tell you we were soooooo very disappointed. It had its funny scenes and stuff but we thought it would be so much more of a comedy and less of an actual breakup... with Vince you would think a comedy like the Wedding Crashers and stuff like that.... this movie was kind of depressing. I know the name is The Break - Up, but I thought it would have been a funnier version of someone breaking up and then the crazy things they would do to get back together, but it was NOTHING like that....Dont let me get started about the ending..... I would wait till it comes out on DVD, hopefully then they will have an alternate ending, one that most people would actually enjoy..... People left our theater really disappointed and I would hate for that to happen to you..... Was this review helpful? Sign in 6 out of 8 users found this helpful Posted: 6/5/2006A review of The Break-Up by rlb3778 Throughout the entire movie I was thinking, Id totally buy this when it comes out on dvd...and then it ended and within the last 30 seconds of the movie, what could have been an awesome happy ending completely reversed my opinion on purchasing. Why do they have to do things like that? In a world shrouded in sadness in the news, itd be nice to escape from reality every now and again for a happy ending in a movie. I dont want to assume that they end up getting back together. I want to SEE it. Drop the bags, embrace, kiss, profess how much youve missed each other, fade to credits. Alas...were left dangling. If you could have heard the collective sigh of frustration in the theater as the credits started rolling you would have laughed.
Overall the movie was funny and the acting great but I just want a happy ending to the movie...maybe the DVD will be released with alternate endings. THAT would be fun. Id recommend seeing it because maybe a lot of people can relate to it, being in long-term, tumultuous relationship, but I was just disappointed with what I thought could have been, although cliche, a romantic feel-good-while-walking-from-the-theate r-to-your-car-hand-in -hand-with-your-significant-other kind of ending. Sign in 8 out of 10 users found this helpful Posted: 6/5/2006A review of The Break-Up by symmerhaze I loved the movie and who better to play that role than Vince. Vince was no Prince in this one. He is so comical in this making every couples nightmares a blast. As it first started it reminded me of all the things my husband and I fight over so it was like seeing a counceling session of ourselves until they took drastic measures to prove their independence. Vince like all men appeared to be the macho dont need you until the end realizing what he has lost was a gem. I laughed the whole way thru especially the hit man seen. I recommend taking a girlfriend to see this with you instead of your husband you will appreciate it so much more. Was this review helpful? Sign in 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 6/5/2006A review of The Break-Up by an unrecognized user I loved The Break-Up. Jennifer Aniston was gorgeous and believable. Vince Vaugn was amazing. I felt like I was watching a slice of urban life and what honestly happens when communication skills are undeveloped in relationships. There seemed to be great lessons for life in a very entertaining format. It was a relief not to be insulted by unnecessary violence, bad language, and nudity. More movies like this!
