Posted: 12/2/2006A review of The Architect by Charles1030
Cleverly adapted from a stage work by Scottish playwright David Greig so that it makes sense in this visual medium, The Architect is a riveting urban drama that tackles a myriad of sociopolitical issues conflicts of race, sex, class, marriage and politics without spreading itself thin. Like most films that attempt intersecting storylines, the connective tissue between two disparate characters (such as the gay black kid from the projects who befriends a rich closeted white dude) can sometimes feel too convenient, but the situations are consistently well-realized and mature. As executive produced for HDNet by Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban, you had better believe that the hi-def architectural cinematography makes handsome use of the technology.
