I will admit that it is nowhere near the original series' comedic level. What I liked about the movie is the people tried. It's not easy to copy an original, but you can try. Raul Julia was great as Gomez, but he still didn't make the little funny jokes as John Astin did when he portrayed Gomez Addams. Anjelica Huston was lovely as Morticia, but she didn't quite display the grace that Carolyn Jones had. In my opinion Huston and Julia didn't quite have the chemistry that Jones and Astin had. Chris Lloyd was great as Uncle Fester. He completely changed the original Uncle Fester's (Jackie Coogan) attitude. Lloyd's portrayal showed a more sensitve Feter. I also noticed the changes that were made. Instead of Fester being Morticia's uncle he was Gomez's brother. Also the house in the movie looked old and crumbly. It lacked the unorthodox, items that the house had in the series. The original house wasn't ugly like the movie's it just had strange things in it. Christina Ricci did a marvelous job as Wednesday, in the series Wednesday (Lisa Loring) was sweet, but she kind of hinted having a dark side. Ricci brought that out. Jimmy Workman played Pugsley very well, but he didn't seem to show the abnormal genius that the original Pugsley (Ken Weatherwax) had. In the movie, Lurch had no personality, and I thought that was a huge discredit to the original Lurch (Ted Cassidy). I loved the movie and it's concept, but the original takes the cake. Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful nedds to be on usa network agianPosted: 12/18/2003A review of The Addams Family by Anonymous This was a great movie but needs to on tv agian like on usa network the last time i sall this on tv was in 2001 i dont rent movies that often soo it would be nice if usa network or tnt could show this on tv again oh wath this it is great the cast the story watch the addams family it is great seeing the way thing was is cool plus i like the cast and the action if you liked the tv show the you like the movie its preety much the same but with a darker tone. Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful  not quite the family affairPosted: 4/26/2003A review of The Addams Family by Brooke20035 This movie stands out. its one of those movies that are like its good,ok but not nothing to brag about. the addams family doesn't know what ever happened to uncle fester but they get weird guests and one of them are uncle fester and they don't know.but this wacky adventure is a treat for the younger people.this movie has great funny characters that will be crazy at first and lovable at the end. Fester Addams, disgruntled and jealous of his more dashing brother, Gomez; runs away from the Addams fold and remains missing until Gomez' greedy accountant hatches a plot to purloin the Addams millions by submitting an impostor to illicitly regain the Addams household. But the impostor carries an Addams bloodlust that may prove to reveal certain hidden truths. Christopher Lloyd walks away with the spotlight in this effort which, like 'Popeye' has all the physical ingredients but somehow fails to gel into success. Anjelica Huston seems to blatantly defy Morticia's character and ultimately falls short, possibly a key element. However there remain some entertaining moments including the 'Mamushka'.
