Unfortunatly, like with anything show biz, the actors had become too big for TV.
But, what are they doing now, other than voice overs for Domino's, or bit roles in cheesey movies?
When Topher Grace left the show, it was over. The next year was a whole season of jump the shark episodes.
The final episode was an open ended finally...Perhaps a 'That Point Place Movie'
is something that should be considered, hell, other less funny and less watched shows have done it!
Overall, the show was fantastic, riddled with scarey little referrences to abnormal psychology, and refer madness, which made it a believable show.
Everyone I knew in Wisconsin in the late 70's had a place like Eric Foreman's basement, and a circle of friends who were either at odds with each other, or comrads for life. They belonged together. After all the screaming, yelling, back-stabbing, and srew-ups that Erics parents dumped on him, he should have had a second chance to marry Donna. You completely killed his self-esteem and courage in the seventh season and then you wonder why the heck Topher Grace tells you that he cant go any farther with the character. Eric and Donna should have taken the keys to their new apartment in Madsion and moved right after high school graduation in the start of the 6th season. They deserved better than what you people gave them. There are a lot of young people with little courage and hope that were really pulling for them. Shame on you, and shame on Red and Kitty Forman. I always felt like they were living my life in the 70s this is a wonderful show and I hate to see it go. It is one of the few that make us laugh and cry and feel what they are feeling. Thank heavens there are still some comedy shows out there that are just THAT - COMEDY, plain and simple, and doesn't try to interject 'real world' problems into it.
