Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 10/19/2006A review of Take the Lead by Tangy338 I wish I had seen this movie earlier. I have always loved to watch any movies that are about dancing, period. So with this passion in mind, I rented the DVD and causally asked my 11-year-old daughter join me to watch it. Surprisingly, she loved it and requested to watch it again the next day. When I returned the DVD, she even asked if we can rent it again in the future! Banderas brought out the charm, style, and passion as he acted as the dance teacher and how he tried to connect with the youth through dancing lessons and led them into a more positive lifestyle and believe in themselves. What is wrong with a healthy plot as long as it has a positive influence on the audiances despite the fact that it is the same old story. I would recommend this to anyone who loves dance movies! I think it was pretty cool, how they mixed ballroom with hip hop. i would watch this movie over and over again. Was this review helpful? Coach teaches a bunch of misfits that they can be something in life. still, it was funny and it kept you entertained at all times. The characters all has their own little story which made the movie all the more better. The sound track was really good. They mixed hip hop with classical ballroom dancing music and the outcome was fab. The dancing was so good that when i walked out the theatre door, it made me wanna learn how to do the tango! Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 5/28/2006A review of Take the Lead by Anonymous How many times have we seen the story of a good coach trying to take a bunch of misfits and mold them into star performers? It is a basic theme that has been incorporated into sports movies since the seventies when the original Bad News Bears hit theaters. Think about how many times we have seen this story repeated, even in the last few years. There was Coach Carter, the recent Glory Road, and of course last years remake of the Walter Mathau baseball favorite. While some of you might not consider the rumba or the foxtrot to be a sport, I on the other hand beg to differ. Dance requires a great deal of athleticism, grace, and talent and that is why Take the Lead functions well by falling into the typical framework of these inspirational sports films.

At first its kind of slow, but after you get into it its awesome! Was this review helpful? Pretty much this guy teaches these D-hall regulars how to ballroom dance and they all have their own little stories. Its based on a true story so thats kinda cool. It was slow at times but the dancing was awesome! I walked out wanting to take ballroom dancing lessons. So I give it 4 stars. Was this review helpful? There was little if any character development. I did not care for the music selections either. The redeeming quality of the movie was that it is a true story, there was a mean tango with Antonio Banderas, and the cinematography was great. It does not come close to Shall We Dance in terms of story development. Too bad...Wait for it to go to discount movies or rent it.... Was this review helpful? The dancing was great and the story line, even though weve all seen it before, was good. Some scenes were really touching. I hadnt seen Antonio in anything before because I dont normally like the type of movies he stars in but this was very good and Id seen all of his if he is this good in all of them. I just thought it was a good movie, not great but enjoyable to see and uplifting. Go see it. Was this review helpful? Sign In 5 out of 5 users found this helpful Posted: 4/20/2006A review of Take the Lead by rjennica1 Antonio Zorro Banderas saves the movie which is so like many others. Also, the mixed dancing is another saving factor and the acting by some wonderful young newcomer kids! The Tango demo was awesome by Antonio and the girl introduced to the misfits in detention. The rest of the Ballroom music was kind of lame in arrangement and sound quality as well as the presentation and comments by the M.C. in the competition. Bad acting there. Lot of good slices of advice for life in this movie using dance as the catalyst! All in all, it was fun and worth seeing! Was this review helpful? We saw it not knowing what to expect and we were dancing in our seats by the end of the flick. Its a good movie about taking chances and being successful on our own terms. The movie was well worth the money and the time. Go see it, you will enjoy it. Was this review helpful? it was great. im really into dancing and things so i enjoyed it a lot. It was good with the dancing and the whole story line of the movie was also well. The fact that it was based on a true story made it even more interesting. I really liked the fact that they put modern day music with the ballroom music. It sounded HOTTT!!!!!!
