Save the price of the ticket and buy the DVD (if there is one) of "The Senator Was Indiscrete". Was this review helpful? I would have LOVED the movie if it had not been for the use of so much offensive language. This could have been a good training tool for our youth, and enjoyment of adults if you didn't have to subject them to hear the "f" word, and the many GD's in this movie. Was this review helpful? Finally, something that has some meaning (politically & emotionally). The timing is right on, & should make us take a look at our responsibility to vote intelligently. I think we are so used to seeing Kevin Costner as the hero type, it takes some getting used to him in this role. I'm definitely tired of the fantasy thrills (Dark Knight), & the gross and ridiculous "comedies" (Pineapple Express) that fill the theater venues. It's hard to know what to go see as adults, let alone for young people. The choices of this full-time single father & his intelligent 12 year old daughter gives a very poignant picture of the difficulties in America today. I, personally, found this to be a thought provoking & tender but funny look at what is happening all around us. It also gave an accurate picture of political promises that are made, changed, and never kept (depending on what special interest group--in this case one man). My husband & I both give it two thumbs up! Was this review helpful? how the movie ended. Excellent actors, music and it truly represented events
that could actually transpire. Was this review helpful? The little girl was great, but it pretty much ended there. Costner looked like he was playing a role he's played before and It was never really believable. He definitely looked like he was trying too hard. If you're looking for political satire with a message........go rent "Dave". Was this review helpful? It was terrible and a total waste of time and money! Poor Kevin to be put in this position (I noted he was a producer) The script must have been a lot better than the finished produce. YUCK! It has everything worth going to the movies for......fun, feel good, funny, satire that is not mean but really CLEVER! A very timely movie that speaks to the issues of the day without hitting you over the head and giving you some laughter and tears......please Hollywood...make more of this kind of movie.....we just might all survive the trials at hand with this kind of escape!!!! Three cheers for "Swing vote"!!!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 8/3/2008A review of Swing Vote by Impressed1011 This was an excellent movie. It was refreshing because it didn't have harsh language, sex, drugs, etc. Some parts were a little slow and it ended without closure. Other than that it was a good show. Was this review helpful? Molly stole the movie, it was real , entertaining, comical, and just plain good movie making
best movie I've seen lately Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 8/2/2008A review of Swing Vote by leonvojr I see a movie every week. The worse so far has been THE WANTED - violence for the sake of violence. SWING VOTE has real people, living real lifes, upset by the persence of the media & two overly aggressive Karl Rove types who want to win at all costs. The actual candidates prove to be much more human. Costner's daughter steals the show. See it. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 8/1/2008A review of Swing Vote by homovivens This hilarious film unfolds with the comic sophistication the iconic Gary Larson brought to his cartooning: the bombardment of one's senses with the surprise of that peculiar imagination where hysteria, confessional foibles and a collage of characters collide and collapse into the comedic. Following upon the barrage of this summer's relentless release of the computer-generated idea, this film's story-telling reminds us that humor resides in the distinctively human. This year's sleeper hit, I bet. Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
