We often don't think about what the average people thought about what was going on around them and this movie really portrays the pains of growing up in such a difficult society. The story focuses on two friends(Christian Bale and Robert Sean Leonard) who start finding their ties strained as they both react to what is going on in their country in different ways. They are both enrolled in a Youth Program and are being trained to think like German Soldiers. When one of the boys starts to have doubts about what he is learning, he must make a choice-to continue following the majority or to stand up for what he believes in-no matter what.
