This movie is not March of the Penguins nor Happy Feet and THAT'S THE WAY IT SHOULD BE!!! I love this film and my 3 year old can not get enough of it!! I enjoy it as a well made, funny, witty ,family movie that, indeed does, pays homage to all those great surf movies like "The Endless Summer". Being a surfer myself the wave scenes just make me drool and itch to grab my board and paddle out. Love the characters and humor and just had a great time with this film, as did my whole family. Stop comparing and start enjoying and you will find a film that you can enjoy over and over again.

The movie was original in its characters and storyline. I also liked the mockumentary style. There were some funny moments but it wasn't a very funny movie. I felt it took itself too seriously a good part of the time, even to the point of being depressing. Also, it didn't seem possible this movie actually lasted 1hr25min like it claims it is - it seemed very short.

Adults couldn't like this movie, it's difficult to even pretend to be interested for the kids' sake. As for the kids, the themes are slightly too mature for the target audience (one character calls another

Really cute movie and loved the songs. Many songs that you find yourself singing along to. My 5-year-old loved it and pretended he was surfing the rest of the day. Still had enough adult humor to entertain us, though. Only concern was the occasional terms (peckerface) that my son could pick up on and use at his christian school, but I guess he has heard worse. Good overall movie that kept us all entertained.

Drawing on the appeal of recent animated flicks, Surf's Up adds its nod to both family fare and the Pro surfing world. On its own, it is quite formulaic, not serious, and willing to manage the individuality-responsibility angle with a gentle hand. Cody's character seems to borrow from Kelly Slater's autobiography. Even so, the story line is a common thread with all pro athletes who make or break with heartache. The exaggerated characters in the chicken and Tank are staples of family films, if only to discern the roles each play in the wash of silly action and colorful scenery. For those who are involved with or who follow the pro surfer world, not only do Kelly Slater and Rob Machado lend voices and their likeness to the movie, but certain venues are mentioned which are all a part of current competitive surfing. The Australian voices, the flat spell at Shiverpool, and the boneyard are familiar to those in the know. The contest itself seems to be a cross between the Maverick's and Eddie Aikau big wave tournaments. Lastly, one nod is made to the most recent animated penguin film when Cody is asked if he sings or dances. Happy Feet for surfers? This is a cute film in the light family fare genre, but not one that will stand out necesarily.

My wife and I and our two girls, ages 7 and 5, all loved the movie. Fun characters and a good story with heart. It kept our attention the whole time and we enjoyed it immensely. We are confident other families will find this to be a feel-good movie the whole family can enjoy.

Surfs Up is a really good movie, but not much humor to help support it. The story i hear is based off a true story which is cool, but they changed people to penguins to make it more interesting. The voice acting is awesome! Jon Heder and Shia LeBeouf rock! But the way it is filmed is sometimes a neuscense. But since it is a very cool movie, it deserves a cool score.

This movie is so cute. It is good for children and adults, because it has some humor that only adults would appreciate. It is very well made and I love that it is documentary style. Very great movie and I would recommend everyone to go see it.
