Maybe this was a mistake to some who dont see the need for character development, but it feels as though the writers want the viewer to care for the main characters and inject discourse into the life of these characters once the viewer has made an investment. I would like to see this show given a further chance at survival, maybe at the cost of further character growth. Maybe its time to allow the characters to get dirty, bring in a bit more of that mainstream humor, while allowing the more educated humor to subtly sneak in for the rest of us to enjoy. No wonder movie rentals are so popular... theres nothing on network TV that appeals to a more sophisticated audience. The writing and acting on this show were great, I love Sorkins wit. I looked forward to every Monday night, and then zap... its gone. I really hope NBC execs rethink this one. With the current steady diet of game shows and reality TV, its refreshing to get a treat of something that shows some creative thinking once in a while. Was this review helpful? The cast is phenomenal and the writing is superb! We need to let NBC know that it is ok to cater to intelligent audiences. Really! Was this review helpful? I love the quick wit between Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford. They make for must see Monday night TV. I laugh through the entire show. I get to see few shows that arent cartoons and this is one of my must sees. I hope NBC realizes this could be a hit and brings it back for another season. There have been many shows that had a slow first season......MASH, 7th Heaven, and look how long they lasted. Was this review helpful? Is that .... art imitating life? or just wishful thinking?
After wading through the tripe that occupies most of the primetime airwaves, it has come to my attention that this was a great program. I dont understand why it is being pulled.
I started watching because it followed heroes, but STUDIO 60 quickly became a shining example of great television. It seems that if a program doesnt rely on nudity, violence, or vulgarity to hook the audience then it wont last on network television. Just like SURFACE and LOVE MONKEY. Intelligent programming for intelligent audiences has no place on network TV. I will be disgusted if it is cancelled. Was this review helpful? Its deeper then that and is definitely a keeper Was this review helpful? Perry and Whitford are fantastic! I am a christian and am not offended by the christian jokes. In fact, I feel flattered we are being mentioned on a mainstream show - at least it gets people talking about christianity. I love this show and hope NBC keeps it on for years to come. But it in fact is not. The dialect is fast-paced, witty, and fun. Sports Night was fantastic. And the now desperate Felicity Huffman has Sorkin to thank. As does William H. Macy. West Wing was a triumph, and NBC dropped the ball on it. I can only hope that NBC will right its previous screwup and keep this show going. Do not replace it with another gameshow, unintelligent slapstick comedy, some dramedy that takes place in a suburb or hospital, or some other equally boring drama that could easily be a two hour movie, but not a season long weekly show. Please keep Studio 60 going! Was this review helpful? Cant there be a show on TV that doesnt automatically bash Christians? Was this review helpful? Webers character has shown himself to have a soul of sorts this week).
I certainly hope NBC gives it a chance to find the audience it deserves. Was this review helpful? I can only just glimpse the edge at this early stage, but I can already see that this show will be able to touch on any subject, have any guest, explore any current event and add (or subtract) members to the cast. It already has lots of chemistry, which will only get better. Already one bit of wisdom is self evident, The people who watch T V shows are NOT dumber than the people who make T V shows. Its going to be great fun to watch it grow. Was this review helpful? This show is a much-needed must see in the midst of tv that is consumed by crime drama and reality tv. The cast has great chemistry, the show is well-written...this definitely makes the cut of shows to watch AND TIVO. ) Was this review helpful? I love this show. Its fast, smart, and good looking. The sets are interesting and look authentic. The storyline was riveting and new. And the dialogue is strong, smart, with witty humor. Perry and Whitford make a good pair. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-15 of 15 Per Page | ||
