This movie should not even be made. Simply stated, people want money. So they make this unsignficiant, no worthy to God, movie. Wheres Mel Gibson? Sign In 6 out of 6 users found this helpful  as good as a mediocre episodePosted: 6/28/2006A review of Strangers With Candy by ionca i enjoyed the movie. granted, it wasnt as good as a good series episode (i.e., a burdens burden, the trip back, etc.). it was on par with a mediocre episode (i.e., bogey nights).
some jokes were recycled from the tv series (or wigfield, the post-SWC book written by its creators).
but in the end, it had me rolling. i am anxiously awaiting this movie on DVD so i can watch it repeatedly. i think it will get better with each viewing. Was this review helpful? For all of you Strangers with Candy fans this is a no-brainer, must-see film. I was laughing my ass off the whole time. And although they reuse a lof the old jokes from the series... theres plenty of new stuff to keep us die hard fans entertained. I was actually just looking around for some clips and scenes from the film and found this new one of Princicpal Blackman, Alison Janney, and Philip Seymour Hoffman... crazy huh? Check it out and let me know what you think sometime.
