SSSSSSSSuuuuuuuuuccccccccccckkkkkkkkkss ssssssss Was this review helpful? Much of the media coverage found on TV these days fails to address the "backdoor draft" being implemented in the military and the tale of the men in this movie depict the damage it causes. The movie also addresses the psychological ramifications of war and makes it clear that once a soldier goes to war, he is forever changed. I believe it is important for the public to understand all that war entails before passing judgment in regards to whether or not we should be in one. Watching this movie provides a viewpoint often unseen and I feel its important to see.
Definitely an excellent movie in my opinion. Was this review helpful? Boy, did I feel stupid walking out of the theater with them as I said I did not like it. It was LOUD, obnoxious, full of annoying rap music, was not interesting in most of the movie, for example, alot of the movie is devoted to "his trip to see the senator in DC", which makes no sense at all, why would you see a senator if you are AWOL? Also, the movie never develops any strong story lines between the characters. The trailer makes the movie look alot better than it actually is. Sorry I wasted money and time on it!
TRUST me - save your money and wait til it comes to HBO or regular tv for that matter! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 4 users found this helpful A perfect example of how disconnected Hollywood is with military issues. I walked out 20 minutes into it. Nothing but a huge waste of time and money. The people that made this must be very proud, they are idiots. Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 3 users found this helpful First, I have to say that the movie lacks in entertainment and is not skillfully made. Secondly, it amazes me that the atmosphere in the US is such that this crap is being released and people actually watch it!! I immigrated here, but it appears that I love this country much more than the native born Americans. What a shame... Was this review helpful? It's obvious your not in the military and I am. Plus I am an Iraq Veteran. The war doesn't have to be over to be one. Do your homework pal. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 4 users found this helpful After seeing this movie, i am more scared of our government. How could solider who serve our country be treated this way? This movie was a real eye opener and made me see how uncaring this government is. Dont get me wrong I love america! And I love our soliders who serve....Amazing acting and a great story.. I suggest everyone see this movie! Was this review helpful? there's people that have been over there four plus times now. its not like this one isn't true or hasn't happend to someone or to say a soldier hasn't thought of running when called back... Of course war movies are dramatized but thats not to say even just a tiny part, of this movie came from somewhere true. Was this review helpful? I took one of my buddies to see this movie, and I think it hit too close to home for him. He has served a tour in Iraq (and is 25 years old and has been presented with a Purple Heart, which he isn't too fond of, but that is beside the point) and I think some of the memories of his time there came to the surface. He was very quiet during the ride home, so I may done some damage there.
Anyway, I think it was a great movie depicting the importance (despite being called back to another tour the day the main character is to get out) of one's duty to his country. I think that the ending of this movie shows that no matter the cost, one that serves in our military should perform his or her duty to the best of their ability.
I think that is all that the great people of this country can ask for. There are too many that have died bravely over in this war already and I think that this movie depicts what these brave men and women go through daily to protect our freedom here.
Some call this an anti-war movie--I think that is just has gotten a bad rap from the general public... Was this review helpful? This is another Hollywood attempt to push its agenda against the war. Any American soldier knows its his duty to serve his country and he's taken on this duty knowing full well he can be called to serve at any time. And you're saying that a movie about a decorated war veteran(which is a joke btw. Ryan Philipe's not old enough to be coinsidered a veteran and the war ain't over folks) in which he refuses to go back to active duty when he's needed is a good movie? Nope. sorry. It's not. And it's not a good message to be sending our families. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-14 of 14 Per Page | ||
