Then when the other characters are introduced, it becomes cliche with brain dead beach bums and airhead blond chicks. Better than Bring It On, but that's not saying much at all. good job Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Although I admit the movie isnt original in its plot, the moral behind it is both creative and true. It might be boring to those who have never been a part of the competitive gymnastics world, but to those who have, the conflict of the film is one that has needed to be addressed for a long time. You may claim that the movie is centered around one big cliche (which is true), but if you take the time to look deeper than that youll see a much more important meaning. Was this review helpful? It was refreshing and extremely funny. What are you waiting for? GO AND SEE IT! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Jessica Bendinger might want to consider abandoning her writing career. I literally cant think of a screenwriter in Hollywood who has written this much cinematic garbage aimed at a target audience of ten year old girls. Sure we all know she was responsible for Bring It On, the cheerleading film which took the country by storm six years ago, but since then she has been responsible for the words behind even more mindless dribble like First Daughter and Aquamarine. Well Bendinger finally mustered up the courage to step into the role of director as she has completed her first film Stick It, a gymnastics movie which she also wrote. While the screenplay may be some of the corniest schlock you will encounter this year at the movies, Bendinger may have found a talent she has some flair for, as Stick It is a surprisingly tight picture.

Sign In 2 out of 3 users found this helpful Posted: 5/24/2006A review of Stick It by LMGNConverse13 I totally adored this movie because that is how gymnastists act. Even dancers act like this. Competition is EVERYWHERE. This movie did a good job portraying that. Also, most girls become friends in the end. Some people can relate. The movie was funny, enjoyable, and personally inspired me and taught me life lessons. I also really enjoyed the actors, the whole cast. The website was fun too.------ stickit.movies.go.com Was this review helpful? Sign In 4 out of 9 users found this helpful Posted: 5/18/2006A review of Stick It by moviebrane1 This film was not awful, primarily because of Bridges and Lengies. Otherwise, though, there is little to remember here. Peregrym looks good in places, but her performance suffers in places from either overacting or bad writing, or maybe both. The plot starts with a cliche, proceeds too predictably, then turns entirely absurd at the end. Based on one unfair score, all the gymnasts revolt? They select who is going to win each event, and everyone else DQs themselves? Hoooboy. Thats believable, eh? Also, we have to spend too much time trying to figure out why Peregrym is acting like a self-absorbed, spoiled brat, and we eventually get an explanation that is too shallow, too little and too late. Finally, I was disappointed by the failure of the film to tie up -- or even explore -- some of the peripheral story lines and characters. There was certainly time. What about the father-daughter conflict? What happens to Lengies character? What happens to the bad judge? All these stories are raised, then left unresolved at the end. This is a below average film, and not worth seeing unless you have seen everthing else or somebody else is paying. Was this review helpful? Some actual gymnastics would have been nice.
On the other hand, the acting was quite good given the horrific screenplay. Was this review helpful? Sign In 11 out of 15 users found this helpful Being a gymnast for over 15 years, I thought the movie was incredibly acurate, right down to the big, ratty hair of the judges. I did not say one time that something wasnt right. I really enjoyed the gymnastics humor that only a gymnast would understand. Rips on top of rips is something the normal person would not understand. I was impressed with the gymnastics of this movie too!
Of course the end was unrealistic, but what do you expect-its Hollywood. It is, however, a good point for the future of gymnastics. Having your underwear showing has always been a deduction that even I have received and no one can forget the 1996 Olympics when the entire Chinese team had .5 deducted because the judges didnt like the cut of their leotards.
And lets be honest I dont think that any gymnast will miss this movie, regardless of what the public thinks of it. Gymnastics rarely gets the attention that it deserves. Props to the people that finally made a good movie about it!
Want to see a horrible gymnastics movie? American Anthem a gymnastics from the 1980s, who has a high bar in their back yard to practice on? Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
