That's all this film is: Two actors talking. This is of course interrupted by seizure-inducing, very much overdone light saber fights and battles we never get to see. Why don't we get to see them? Because we have to go back to Hayden Christensen and Ian McDiarmid talking. If the two were actually capable actors with a capable script, this would not be so bad, but unfortunately, this is not the case. Christensen scowls and delivers every line with child-like dependence upon George Lucas's creative genius, which has sadly waned over the years. Even good actors, like Sammy L. Jackson can't get their grasp upon the wobbly and dumb dialogue ("A Sith lord?!?" >acts surprised<). Another sad thing is the special effects. They don't come close to dishing out wows, and in some cases (example, the Jedi temple) they look like something off of the SciFi channel. All in all, this sad film gives us little to enjoy, except closure to the series and a chance to enjoy John Williams's score (which isn't as good as his other works either). Was this review helpful? The remakes and touch ups he did on Episodes IV, V, VI were well done. But when I went to go see Episode III for the 23rd time, I got to say it was as great as seeing it for the 1st time!
But I would have made the lightsaber scene longer and more emotional considering the fact this will be Anakin's last time as a 100% human, then show more of the end where it shows Darth Vader creating his new lightsaber and baby Luke and Leia growing up. Maybe it's because of the love story and Anakin's struggle to find the right path to go down, but it was really good. It wasn't a disapointment at all. I can't wait to go and buy it when it comes out on DVD. Was this review helpful? I never saw it until I was 18 and had to see it on video...I fell in love with the story. Next to the Wizard of Oz...this movie had everything in it that any kid would want...adventure, heros, bad guys, the damsel in distress(with attitude), and all kinds of action and places you never would have dreamed of. Now as an adult I still have the same feelings of being the kid that saw the movie for the first time. My son and daughter love the stories making them second generation fans. MY QUESTION IS: Did you never want to be a Jedi or Sith as a child when the movies and stories started floating around? I sure did...and to this day I dream of it in my head thought in reality I have to be that adult that takes care of kids and home. But lets just say....I NEVER REALLY GREW UP...Star Wars will always be that one thing that keeps the kid in me alive...keeps the kid in my own kids alive...so they can pass it on...I do believe this is the one saga that will last longer than others will....right next to the Wizard of Oz it is...... GL did a fantastic job of putting it all together both in film and literature. A true masterpiece of the last 100 years and for the future. Was this review helpful? This movie is an excellent conclusion to a wonderful adventure by Lucas and company. I wish it did not have to come to an end. I also liked 1 and 2, eventhough it has been said that they had little content. They were more entertaining and thought provoking than watching bikini-clad Simpson and the General Lee or Herbie. How can anyone cut on Star Wars when there is so much nonsense out there at the box office these days?? Fantastic 4 was another bomb in my opinion, but people will flock to see it. I guess the ones that cut on Star Wars especially 1 and 2, just expect too much from Lucas. They will settle for a mediocre at best film from someone else, but not from him...I give this movie a big thumbs up and hope that come Oscar time, someone that knows a good thing when they see it will have some input!! I hope to see Hayden Christensen in future movies, as well!!! Keep the longer hair, Hayden...you are definitely on my list of hotties!!! Was this review helpful? Those stories were the perfect bridge from "attack of the clones" to "revenge of the sith". IF you missed the cartoon series, get it on DVD. I was in an argument with star wars "experts" about the beginning of the movie. MOst people do not know why general grievus was coughing in the beginning of the movie. It was because Mace Windu busted him in the ribs with the "force" at the end of the animated series. Plus, the whole battle in the beginning of "sith" was a continuation of the battle from the "clone wars" animated series. Lucas got to cover alot of dialog in the animated series. We were introduced to general grievius, commander cody, and a deep description of the other jedi. Without the animated series, i would have been alittle lost with such a big jump in time between the movies. This should help in understanding the movies better. Was this review helpful? Sign In 13 out of 79 users found this helpful Posted: 7/15/2005A review of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith by GermanBlacksmith This movie was boring, and after only a few minutes into the movie I was itching to get out of the theatre. I'd heard good reviews about it so I assumed it would be better. It was corny and obnoxious. I know lots of people love it... But it really stunk. The story was boring and it dragged. A bunch of people figthing, tons of computer animation... Nothing seemed real. I almost shouted for joy when it was over. Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 3 users found this helpful Posted: 7/13/2005A review of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith by kimberly_lueking9 With it's action-packed commencment and dark, desperate, agonizing sequences of Anakin spiraling down to his destiny with the dark side, Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith has proven itself worthy of epic. Nonetheless, Episode I successfully prepared me for the next of the trilogy, but Episode II's lame, poorly scripted, and, needless to say, cheesy love scenes that consisted of most of the movie, made me leery of what Lucas had up his sleeve for the final installation of the Star Wars saga. However, I was pleseantly suprised when I viewed the finished product. Still, though, Episode III had the poorly scripted, cheesy loves scenes but, besides the importance of introducing Padma's(Natalie Portman) pregnancy, the love scenes were short and insignificant to the rest of the dark turmoil in the movie. Simply, the fantastic effects, heart-wrenching performance, by Hayden, of the inner battle in Anakin, and the moving sequences at the end between Obi-Won(Ewan McGregor) and Anakin(Hayden Christensen), easily make-up for the love scenes.
So, in conclusion, I give this movie a strong-standing 4 stars. It deserves it and, after watching it, you just want to go and watch Episodes IV, V, VI. Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
