This sequel to the 2009 "Star Trek" was a great continuance of the interpretation of Star Trek by J.J. Abrams. In my opinion as a long time Star Trek fan(since age 5), J.J. Abrams has continued to honor Gene Roddenberry by enhancing his vision. J.J. Abrams has done so with the character depth he has given to all the original characters and even with the original but enhanced Enterprise design. J.J. Abrams has done an excellent job with the preservation & enhancement of Gene Roddenberry's creation. I would recommend all long time Star Trek fans see this movie and I hope J.J. Abrams will continue to make Star Trek movies. Job well done Mr. Abrams!!!!

I watched this movie in 3D, and so glad that I did and that was the best 15 bucks I have spent on myself in years!! First of all, love Star Trek and was so glad that the intelligent and creative mind of J.J. Abrams was directing this second installment (became a follower of his work since "LOST"). But the action was great, the character's...um new and old, stayed true to their characters and nature, kinda couldn't help but like the bad guy (won't say his name because that would spoil it) because he really played the part well. I would have been on his bad boy team frozen and stuff lol. The action sequence(s) was awesome, love seeing the 1701 in actioin and taking a pounding and still making it!! I mean the ship went everywhere!! From the bottom of the ocean, to the clouds, to space and beyond. I even like the story twist and the Loved the history channel special and fusion energy production and how they actually used the real life fusion plant at NIM to shoot scenes in the actuall movie. I mean they thought of everything in this freaking movie!! Well done to the writers, director, CGI company, actors, and the sets that was built. This movie had great action, suspense, thrills, mystery, vengance, sacrifice, I mean this movie just had it all!!!

This is a great start to a true Summer blockbuster(sorry Iron Man). This movie rocked it. Great CGI and Sound Effects. Great script and action never stopped. Well Done JJ!

The movie filled all my expectations. I LOL to some of the references from the history of the series. I saw it on the first day in 3-D. Without knowing the plot, I was drawn into the mystery of the story line. I thought the movie did an excellent job of using the 3-D effects without over doing it. For Trekie fans, you get to meet characters from past episodes of the original series. The action scenes will satisfy the adrenaline junkies. For the pure Trekie fans, they should remember that the timeline for this movie is out of whack from time intervention in the last movie. There are things that happen in this movie that are not consistent with the TV series. Those who are not truly familiar with the original series will not even notice this. However, it does give J.J. Abram the liberty to play with the with the plot. In my opinion, the movie is too intense for young children who are not accustom to movie violence, mild sexuality and harsh language. For this type of genre I give this movie Five Stars. My rating is influenced by my having watched the original series in reruns over the last 4 decades.

Now that the re-introduction of the characters is out of the way, this time around we were able to get a true enough story line that is more aligned with what I was expecting. Relationships developed, personalities were explored, conspiracies uncovered, a$$es were kicked-- great movie that I'd love to see again.

Writers had the chance to start a new story line for this new Star Trek saga, and I'm a little disappointed that this is more of a remake of the Khan episode. The film is great with great cast, visual effects, dialog and action, but they had the opportunity to give a great new story and adventure, so it feels like they missed their chance.

Been a fan of star trek since it came out. Kirk, Spock et all are Kirk Spock Et al only different. This new time line lets us see them from a different perspective. The action is non stop. We saw it in 3D and it was awesome. The references are there, but not the same and so we are not seeing a remake of anything. It is a truly enjoyable movie for old time fan and new fans alike. If you can , see it in 3D. The plot twists and turns keep you guessing, In fact the biggest twist I didn't see coming. Let's face it this isn't new faces trying to be Shatner's Kirk or Nimoy"s Spock etc. They have a new time line to be their own version of Kirk and Spock et all. and while remaining true the spirit of our favorites, they don't necessarily have to be our favorites. for example Sean Connery is Bond, Roger Moore is the Saint and Beau Maverick, He was good as Bond but still not Connery.

JJ Abrams... you hit a grand slam with this movie... every bit true to Star Trek.. Enjoyed the references and ties created in the movie. Thank you for keeping the original movies part of the new star trek series :)
