The inner city school system has become woefully apathetic in its treatment of minorities and the concensus is not to expand the effort or funding any further. But a wiezened little fellow from a College tutorial background sees an opportunity at one Hispanic barrio to turn this jaundiced opinion into rubbish. He knows what many have said for years; that a mind ...is a terrible thing to waste; and embarks on a precedent setting High School course in advanced calculus targeted specifically at a re-vamp of the SAT structure to give a more equal opportunity to those that will WORK for it; rather than to the 'fortunate few'. This is an inspiring independent work which points up many difficulties that plague secondary education to this day and deny a much needed second chance to those who CAN do it.
