The graphics are great, and Toby Micguire did the best job in this one. Especailly his suffering!!! This movie is action packed and it sticks with the two storries the whole way through!!!! He comes under attack from the Sandman. Harry Osborn is the New Goblin, and a black goo affixes itself to Peter’s spider-suit, thus changes his personality. Whatever the story line is, it really doesn't matter, because those of us who love Spiderman will watch.
I did and realized that it came from a terrific screenplay by Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi and Alvin Sargent. Based on the comic book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
Sam Raimi also directed with much energy and a command of VFX.
Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco and Thomas Haden Church were excellent. Was this review helpful? I'm not going to sugar coat this, but spiderman 3 was absolutely terrible. cheesy acting, horrible script writing. if they had spent more time with the whole idea of the black suited spiderman then it would have turned out great. using two villans for one movie was a bad idea and killing off one of the big characters was a bad idea. this movie ruined the series.

After a somewhat slow start in the beginning it kicks things off with a blistering ariel fist fight and chase sequence above the streets of New York between Peter and Harry which thankfully gets things moving at a steady pace. I thought Thomas Haden Church's Sandman and Harry Osborn's the New Goblin were good menacing villains. But I felt as if they had cut out Sandman leaving Harry and Venom as the film's main villains it would've been a lot better. It would've gave Venom a lot more time to develop and more screen time. Because Venom is one of Spider-man's most iconic and dangerous foes to only be in the film for the last twenty minutes it's sort of disappointing. Topher Grace surprising did a solid job as Eddie Brock and his evil altger ego Venom who looked cool but as far as the execution of his character is concerned to me didn't do justice to his character at all. Otherwise Spider-man 3 was an entertaining film and a worthy entry into the series besides it's flaws especially considering one of the villains dies very easily who could've been saved for later installments. This film has plenty of mind blowing action sequences, some romance, and lots of humor that make for an enoyable movie to watch. Was this review helpful? Too much was going on at once & as a result, the writers were forced to tie up everything at the end.
Second, is this Spiderman the Musical? To be fair, there was a "musical number" in the second movie when Peter gave up being a super hero for awhile. In this one, "Emo Peter" does his best Travolta impression by dancing through some cringe inducing scenes.
Finally, they turned almost every character in the movie into whiny brats, especially Peter. There was soooo much crying that I'm sure that they bought cases of onions to help the cast produce tears on cue.
To it's credit, the special effects were top notch. I was totally disappointed as I'm a HUGE Spidey fan & I hope they get it right for Spiderman 4. Was this review helpful? This one was very slow out of the gate and never really got started. Plot was okay but the pace was just off, it seemed to drag on especially for the first hour. Very little action sequences in the first 1hr and 50mins. If you're a fan of spidey 1+2 you will probably tolerate this one, but it is not in the same class. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Entertaining Superhero moviePosted: 7/1/2007A review of Spider-Man 3 by ttnttr I have read some bad reviews for this movie in the newspaper and was worried - until I saw it myself. . . and as usual the critics don't speak for the majority of us, or at least fail to understand what is trying to be accomplished in different genres of film. After all, some movies entertain and others make a statement.
The action and special effects were just incredible.
Mary Jane was annoying, as usual, but this time because she's jealous that people admire her boyfriend for being a selfless superhero, but don't adore her just as much for her meager talent. I'm not even sure what her talent is : does she sing, dance, juggle, strip, etc.?? Yeah, that's pretty noteworthy in a big city, along with thousands of other mediocre entertainers. Rather than put this in perspective she remains jealous and take it out on Peter, which of course he feels responsible for and it goes on to affect his performance when he finds himself in life-threatening situations.
I know it's all fiction, but it makes me appreciate my loving, supporting wife. Was this review helpful?
