After renting the first season, I had to purchase all four seasons (I can't wait until five is available.). I watched them in less than a week. This series is so different--somewhat dark and yet uplifting at the same time--in many ways similar to the writer's other big hit, "American Beauty." The writing is superb and each episode pulls you in, leaving you hungry for more.

Less is more. Too much interest in the family and the shock value of the first season was what brought the show to new heights. You have stepped away from the basis of the show. I'm looking forward to watching the season premiere so much on March 2 that we're having a watching party. Most people turn up their noses just when mentioning the name of this series, but I am telling you - give it a chance. It's brilliant, it's funny, it's dark, and I really think it's by far the most intelligent show on television. Turn off Joe Millionaire and American Idol and rent this first season! Following Sex and the City and the Sopranos comes Six Feet Under. It is a witty and fresh way to look at the lives of the characters and how they deal with their inner demons. The stories are written well and overall it is a very addictive show. To own it on DVD is something I have been waiting for . Was this review helpful? It has every array of emotions. I find it very close to real life and death situations with humor and drama thrown in. I have told so many of my friends about this show and they all thanked me, as they now love the show as I do. I am so glad it finally available to rent as now we can watch them all.
