Intruiguing, yes. I happen to think most of what the media presents us with is fabrication. As I am most allergic to media fluff, I needed to see this Hollywood take on it.<br> Cerebrally interesting and solid plotline. Doubt it will be a smash. Well-acted and discussion-worthy. While it presents the true story of a young journalist who zoomed to the top on a trail of lies, it also echoes other excesses of the 1990s--especially the dot-com boom that made instant millionaires of young techies and just as quickly thrust them into the ranks of the unemployed. The eponymous star of the movie, expertly played by Hayden Christiansen (whom I didn't even recognize as Anaken Skywalker from the last Star Wars movie because of his fine acting here, which proves the value of a good director who cares about good acting), is a young guy who craves approval (He's always asking, "Are you mad at me?") to such a degree that my psychologist friend with whom I saw the movie diagnosed him as a sociopath. This tragic flaw is what leads Glass to fabricate his stories and then establish an elaborate backdrop of phony sources in order to pass fact checking. It's really a testament to his intelligence that he was able to cover his tracks so well. <br>Christiansen is ably supported by Peter Saarsgard and Hank Azaria as his editors and Cloe Sevigny (who played the girlfriend in "Boys Don't Cry").<br>I intend to take my class of 9th grade religious school students to see it because it's a perfect case in point of why honesty is, indeed the best policy. It kind of makes one wonder why Glass couldn't put his fine mind to better use.<br>See it! Was this review helpful?
