Dont get me wrong. Im not one of those every movie is fantastic kind of people, but i do have to give credit to this film. There was something about the acting between JLO, Richard Geere, and Susan Sarandon that just did it. Sometimes you go to movies with a great plot, but horrible actors. Other times its a dreadfully borring plot with a great cast that just couldnt save it but this movie was no where near any of those problems. It had an intriguing plot that kept the viewer locked in until the credits. I cant explain how fun and exciting this movie is, but I can reccommend anyone who reads this to go watch this movie, YOU WILL LOVE IT!

Although I have not been a big fan of J'Lo's recent films (with the exceptions of Maid in Manhattan, Anaconda & Jersey Girl) this is the one film she stands out and really suits her. Finally at last an American adaptation of an Asian film (of the same name) did exceed my expectations and not only well done but also stayed true to the orginal Japanese films Bravo, worth paying $8.00NZ as a DVD rental

It was one of the the best remakes i've ever seen. Richard Gere was absolutely perfect and so was Jennifer Lopez. Everyone in the theatre left with a smile not only on their faces but in their hearts as well. Light and sweet. Go see it. You won't regret it.

When I go to the theater, I expect to be entertained and this movie did the job. It was so much better than I expected. Not a big JLo fan, but absolutely love Richard Gere so I thought I'd give it a shot. The movie has the perfect mix of humor and romance. Definitely a must see!

Finally, a movie that is a total delight! This movie has no deep hidden meaning, no subterfuge. Just sit back and relax at the wonder of dancing, and how it transforms people's lives. This is one of the very few movies I have watched in the past two decades where the audience actually clapped upon its completion. So, go. Enjoy. This is truly a feel good movie!

Fabulous movie!! A real feel good...no trash of any kind, just warm fuzzies and laughs. Richard Gere is so drop dead gorgeous in the ONE scene that everyone will know which scene it is immediately. It will stay with you for days and makes me want to take up ballroom dancing.

Suo had the plot, the tension, and the setting right the first time; A work-driven man (personifying Everyman) defies convention in the formalized society of Japan where public physical interaction, even between spouses, is just not done...to take up (gasp!) ballroom dancing because of an ethereal vision of a woman seen from his train during his commute. Naturally, he won't act on that interest except to be near her in the dance studio (his wife provides some Shakespearean comedy of errors when she mistakes him having an affair), and that makes for graceful, soulful and touching relationship dynamics all around. Move that to the US where self-satisfaction is the norm and the notion of formal love has long ceased to exist, and what's the point? Gere and Lopez may make chemistry and they dance well, but suddenly its merely about love and sex, and the magic of the original vanishes. Nice when you want to watch popular American box office faces, but not art. The original is YoYo Ma, the American version becomes so much Brittany Spears. My advice; rent the subtitled Japanese version and get the point.

I loved this movie because it brought back memories when I was the youngest member of the original Broadway cast of Roger's and Hammerstein's "THE KING & I". To hear the movie title sung of the famous dance between Yul Brynner and Gertrude Lawrence was indeed a very clever bridge capturing the spirit of the dance studio where Richard Gere finally winds up. The cinematography could have been better. It was kind of blurry. There were blotches that appeared on the screen from time to time which I hope will NOT be on the final master when transferred to DVD. The characters were so funny with lines like, "...and stop looking at my ass!" Jennifer Lopez was the proverbial fantastic dancer but could have projected a little more in terms of the emotional side of her character. Her dancing was there but not her acting. I think she's tired of incidental roles. She needs more meaty scripts that will show off her true potential like "Selena" did. Richard Gere was perfectly cast along with the ever beautiful Susan Sarandon. The daughter was also superb and very natural. This was a feel good movie which is good for stressed out people with two left feet. Yes! DO take dancing lessons! Don't worry what kind of shape you're in. We ALL look funny on the dance floor. Who cares. Just enjoy. That's what dancing is all about. And this movie captures that spirit.

LEADS YOU TO WANT TO TAKE UP BALLROOM DANCING. RICHARD GERE IS TAKEN WITH THE MESMERIZING INTRIGUE OF JLO IN A WINDOW, AND FINDS HIS OWN INNER CALM, AND REKINDLES HIS ROMANCE WITH HIS WIFE, THRU THE BEAUTY OF DANCE. OUTSTANDING !!

I've never seen the original japanese movie and really don't care to see it. I saw this one and I loved it. Richard Gere looked sooo good and Jennifer looked beautiful. (Like always) I enjoyed every bit of it. Forget all those out there that only have negative comments about Jennifer. It's only people with problems. She's great !!!! I love watching her dance. She and Richard should of danced a lot more.

Save your money. When this movie shows up on your cable tv, and it shouldn't take long, make your cable company pay you to watch it. Godzilla couldn't have saved this one.

It felt so great to be entertained and not have to try to figure out the plot, who's who, etc. A movie you can take the whole family to and just enjoy which is becoming more difficult to do all the time. Have recommended it to several of my friends and my boss. Everyone thought it was wonderful.
