How often does that happen. All of the women looked beautiful. I had forgotten how spicy the old cable series was until a saw the movie (I'm so used to watching the edited local TV version now). I love going when the crowds have died down. So well done. Even better than the series. I really like all of the characters and felt the movie gave all a good amount of time. I hope there are more. Some of the clothes are very outlandish but that's part of the appeal. Thanks to all who worked on this project it was so well done and you can be proud. Was this review helpful? I went to see this movie the day it came out and I would have gone every day after if I could afford it. It is a great movie full of happy, sad, funny, and real moments. The girls are great and so are their men!
Acting- A+

This is a fitting movie that catches up with our girls several years after the series closed. Each one has made some major changes. Without revealing the plot, there is quite a bit of drama in the middle of the film. The girls are wonderful, SJP sparkles.. KC camps it up and holds the show together quite honestly... CN has never looked better, she has the best "scenes" for an actress... and KD actually provides a good deal of humour. There will not be a totally dry eye in the house during the New Years Eve portion. The JH assistant character was a little awkward, but added 20 something vibe to these ladies in their middle years now... "pass me my glasses". You'll want your glasses when Samantha's neighbor showers.. enough said. As far as the men go, they are fantastically accommodating to these women, well you know need some fantasy. Ha ha. >> There were enough little nagging questions at the end... hmmm.. will there be a SATC2? Was this review helpful? It is nothing like the original TV series which was light and witty, but rather a dumb and dragged out epic without a real plot. Yes, the female Harvard-graduated Manhattan lawyers certainly end up alone and crying in dingy closet-like apartments in a dangerous area of Chinatown like some hapless graduate students, the moment they dare to leave their adulterous waiter husbands. And the only meaning that women over 40 can find in their lives is to have (or at least to f...) a man, and if you don't snatch one by the time you are 40, you and your life are worth exactly nothing. A sad and disappointing movie, the only good thing about it being the brilliant acting of Sarah Jessica and the other 3 women. Was this review helpful? Both times the beginning shots had partial heads cut off and 45 minutes or so into the movie, microphones were clearly visible at the top of the screen. It was very distracting. When leaving after the first viewing, I asked the manager about the mics and she said the picture could be adjusted in the projection room so that the mics wouldn't show.
When I went back 2 days later, the same thing happened. This time I immediately went to the manager and asked for it to be corrected. It was not totally corrected; the mics remained for most of the movie. Very odd. The continuity was off for several shots. Did the whole budget go on clothes?
Samantha was the star IMO. The Latin neighbor showering was a nice surprise. The movie had many good scenes, but it was too long. Was this review helpful? The movie was true to the show. Nothing was out of the ordinary and the storylines for all the women were fantastic. We get to see them grow and change in ways I never thought possible.
What I loved the best though was in the beginning when Carrie is bringing the audience up to speed on where each woman started and what they have had to go through. This enables those who have never seen an episode the chance to get caught up before continuing on with their lives.
I give this movie 5 stars because it was amazingly entertaining and so better than I had imagined. Heck, we may go see it again! Was this review helpful? Not that there's anything wrong with that. Charlotte acting like a teenage bimbo without the blond locks, the best actress of the lot with a underwritten script probably because she doesn't get along with the lead. If you were a Sex in the City fan then this will be right up your alley. The final episode left me so disappointed and wanting more....It felt like the end of another episode and not like the end of an ongoing series. This movie picks up where it leaves off and gives you an ending that is real. An ending that gives you what the series stood for....friends, sex, love, and romance.
I will not ruin it for everyone out there that has not seen it, but it is not just a happy ending. I cried sad tears, happy tears, and laughing tears...what more can you ask for in a movie.
On another note, I will say that this is more of a 'chic flick' then something like a date movie. Also, my mother and I were both big fans so we went to see it together....that was a little awkward. Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
