So I ask myself, why is HBO putting Sex and the City on TV? A few months ago, while flipping through Vogue (or to Carrie: Mecca) I saw the ad for Sex and the City to premiere on TBS in mid-June. I was infuriated! Why? Because, I knew the network was going to bleach all the color of the show out and worst of all – put commercials in between the girls’ sessions in the diner.
I love Sex and the City. The show was and continues to be just for me, and my girlfriends. Every Sunday night I’d curl up on my couch and welcome Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda into my living room. It was something to look forward to (much like Miranda and her obsession with Jules and Meme on BBC).
HBO stated, in a recent article, that they were putting Sex and the City on TBS so that viewers who didn’t have HBO would purchase it after seeing Sex and the City. Well, that’s a load of *bleep*! Those people are not going to see Sex and the City. They’re going to see fifteen minutes of, Emmy Award winning, works of art chipped down (by censors) to fifteen minutes of chitchat and ten minutes worth of commercials. The people who have never seen Sex and the City could have accessed it without turning to TBS (i.e. rent the DVD/VHS). Sex and the City doesn’t belong on TBS. TV shows belong on TBS. “The original” Sex and the City is not a TV show – it’s so much more. On TBS, it’s so much less!

Was this review helpful? The women on this show are wonderfully funny and I can relate to all of them at one time or another. Thanks to all of the cast for some happy moments and good TV! Was this review helpful? Ever since I started watching that show i have learned so much, this show teaches me so much about women and what you should do in certain situations and how you should deal with certain feelings and what things are ok and what things aren't ok, it teaches me about fashion, and most of all it teaches me a lot about men and sex, and for women that's what we need to learn most about is guys. This is my favorite show, I watch it all the time, all my girlfriends have it and love it to. Was this review helpful? Sarah Parker as Carrie is delightful interpreting an open minded working girl with beguiling ways and wonderment about love. Chris Noth is powerful as a wealthy, grounded, handsome, gentle, intelligent love interest for Carrie. Their relationship covers emotions of a gentle but somewhat unrequited love interest and a long-standing friendship. The long suffering Kristin Davis as Charolette portrays the ";blue blood"; thinking and innocence found in a sheltered youth that struggles with the realities of life. Kim Cattrell as the character Samantha is a shining star! Her portrayal as the open-minded, free-wheeling, sexy ";older woman"; lets men and women peek inside the mind of her character and the real thoughts women can and do have about life and sex. The compliment to her role is ";Richard";-very sexy, handsome and the epitome of a fabulous lover in a huge business world in which Samantha also lives, works, and plays. Cynthia Nixon's role as Miranda gives grounding to the cast and show. Educated (her role is as an attorney), she is realistic in her approach to her career and life. Probably the least physcially attractive of the cast, she has/had an active sex life and boyfriends but with an entirely different view on love and sex. But, an illegitimate child was written into the show fathered by ";Steve";, an exact opposite to Miranda with his layed-back life, a character way below her station in this show. Ditch the kid, and put Miranda back into the free-wheeling, sexy and fun lifestyle of the show.";Sex in the City"; is must-see viewing for anyone who is or has been in a relationship; the show will stir all your deepest emotions from humor to sex to love. Sit back and enjoy and don't miss one episode! Was this review helpful? Women were once thought of to be innocent and just home making baby makers. Nowadays life isn't so restricted down to those choices. Also Sex and the City shows how women have taken control of men instead of men to women. I love Sex and the City for breaking new grounds for television history. Also the characters are all lovable ;) who couldn't like Sex and the City? Was this review helpful? However after seeing two episodes or so, I became addicted. This is certainly the best TV show dealing with common dating issues. The characters represent different points of view, eg conservative vs extremely liberal about the best way to manage relationships and first acquaintance ships between the sexes. It also raises the question frequently of self value, and the conflicts that arrise in unequal power relationships. Refreshingly, while the show focuses on men, friendship among women makes the show work. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-9 of 9 Per Page | ||
