I thought the best part was just knowing that the story made sense. It wasnt gorey or bloody, but completely terrifying, like you want to keep looking over your shoulder kinda scary. I give it five stars because you can honestly say that the ending is just too great. Stephen King wins with this one. But seriously, I would LOVE to read some of his books, but can never find them anywhere. If anyone knows where the books can be found, besides a library, please tell me. (Like me!) True to his reputation, Johnny once agin does a strange movie that couldn't stand without him to lift it to its potential. Swiss cheese, he's sexy! (Even if he's mental, I guess we got used to that since "Edward Scizzorhands") So go out and rent it, see it for yourself, and then buy it, 'cuz you'll find you can't live without it. First of all Johnny Depp is an excalent actor so he did his part in the movie. I wish that i had the chance to read the book. You never would of thought that he was his own threat. I also found it to be very unoriginal...the ending reminding me of my favourite movie of all time, Fight Club. Very similar circumstances with characters. I thought Johnny Depp to play a good part though. I'd recommend it to viewers who don't seek originality but overall a good movie to rent. Was this review helpful? Although many say it #%*(ed, I say Bravo to the show! If Johnny had not made himself present in this film it wouldnt have been worth seeing. His acting made the movie, since he often plays strange characters anyways. The special effects may need a little work but it had a few suspensful moments that got you into the film again. The ending was a good surprise..I can say this was a good movie. Also if you listen really close I noticed Johnny has quite a bit of dry humour in this film if you only listen. I generaly see movies in theaters once...I saw this one twice! So if your a fan of Johnny Depp. Rent it! As far as the acting goes, I have to say John Tuturro wins that award. Even though I really looove Johnny Depp, and he did a good job in this film, this wasn't one of his outstanding performances. Johnny Depp was the perfect person to play the lead character and did an awesome job. What a talent he is! All of the other actors in the movie were perfect as well. Johnny Depp did an amazing job, as he actually IS Mort Rainey, moreso than simply acting as this character. There's someone who puts a lot of work, effort and feeling into what they do. From the commercials, I was expecting a good film with a surprise ending...instead I got almost a cliched excuse for an ending to a suspense film or story. Maybe it's just because I'm such a big King fan, and have grown to expect more from him. If this movie were say..20 minutes shorter, it would have been so much better. If you get the chance to see it cheap, go ahead but I don't recommend spending too much money to see something of this "quality" Was this review helpful? So the twist came as no surprise to me. What did surprise me was that anybody would write a book or make a movie like this a few years after the release of the classic "Fight Club" which had a VERY similar ending. <br><br> Was this review helpful? But it wasn't those movies which makes you want to go to a movie theater to see it. So I rented it. It turns out...pretty bad actually. I actually skipped lots of scene just to get to the part.
