He sold his soul when they made this movie. They had the vampire as some creature in the movie but in the book he was very, very real and believeable. David Soul, (Starsky and Hutch fame),plays a semi-successful writer who comes back to his hometown to confront his childhood fears. The sinister role of European businessman, Striker, is played convincingly by James Mason who has other plans for the town. If all vampire movies were really this scary and well made, no one would ever go out after dark again. I highly recommend it, the acting on all levels is great, the music is spooky, the make up of the vampires is creepy, a definite Halloween movie classic. But like reading the book, you really only want to do it during the day. Was this review helpful?
