The movie goes straight downhill from the beginning, becoming more and more predictably ideal. The stereotypes just keep coming and coming. The characters are so hardcore stereotypical it becomes enduring to watch them progress into happy go lucky boys and girls. Despite not being labeled as a Disney film, it still offers the same formulaic and routine family scenario. Originality is really suffering in Hollywood, and this is another example. Hey anybody remember the classic Natl Lampoons Vacation? about 20 sumthing years ago? It was way more funny back then. I think this film is basically an average family, comedy. It's a shame that Robin Williams' superior acting talent is used up on continuous movies that are sunshine and lollipops. Was this review helpful? I originally thought it was sorta miscast except for the daughter who was a riot! If it didnt have SEVERAL LOL out and out belly busters, I would have rated it a one or two though. Im not a Robin Williams fan, but he is funny, the entire cast is perfect, the story, timing. My husband was so surprised he loved it. Was this review helpful? yes, its funny but the story is not that good...

RV was the only thing we could agree on and honestly, neither one of us had great expectations. We were both pleasantly surprised. We both laughed so hard, as did the theater that was packed full, even after several weeks of the movie running. Ok, so this isnt life altering work that lifts us all to a higher place of self awareness...thank God! We just wanted to be entertained and this movie certainly fulfilled that desire. Well worth seeing. We will be getting the DVD so the kids can laugh like we did. I bet we laugh again, just as much, when we see it then! Was this review helpful? Maybe I just needed a good gut busting laugh...but this movie caught me off guard and I was laughing until I had a stomach ache. Have three daughters, that I have taken on road trips and it has been a nightmare...that we all laugh about now. Thats what this movie made me think of...thanks Robin!!!! Was this review helpful? This is hard to believe, as it features the ever-zany Williams, supported by the talented Daniels and Hines. Yet, while the film manages a few laughs by putting Williams in a few formulaic comic situations (cleaning the septic system of the RV, riding a bicycle through the woods, 4-wheeling in the RV, etc.), the film fails to deliver on almost every other level. The plot swings between mind-numbingly predictable travel scenes and goofy, unbelievable action scenes. The dialogue is mediocre, and the characters are two-dimensional, unbelievable and unlovable. Finally, I must say that I am tired of seeing films and TV shows that feature a lovable but clueless male lead, being taught valuable life lessons by an heroic, wise female lead and their sarcastic but basically cool children. This formula has been old since the Jetsons, but it keeps coming back, over and over and over and over again. I loved it my kids loved it - it was great. Very funny. Something to think about. Im not a Robin Williams fan and wasnt all that excited about going but was very glad I did. Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful RV is OKRV is another normal Robin Williams gross-out comedy, but its actually got a little bit of heart. Its pretty funny at some parts, and the scenery is amazing. Its worth the 8.00 movie ticket to see the Colorado mountains and the Utah lakes, if you cant buy the 1,000 plane tickets. JoJo sparkles as rebellious vegetarian teen Cassie. The predicaments are pretty unbelievable, but theyre still good-natured laughs, not counting the RVs waste explosion that Robin Williams gets soaked in. Overall, its worth going to the theater, but if you arent a huge fan of random comedy, wait until the DVD comes to Blockbuster.
Rated PG, but not suitable for small children. Theres potty jokes and some pretty strong language for a PG. Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
