Jason Patric and Jennifer Jason Leigh along with a myriad of other amazing actors bring stellar performances to the movie Rush. The story of undercover narcotics officer Jim Raynor and his Rookie partner Kristin Cates. The two embark on a good cause that ends very badly. Set in Texas, early 1970's the two police officers go undercover as drug abusers in order to ";clean the streets"; of the drug element, the officer's golden goose, Will Gaines played by the melodic Gregg Allman, eludes them at every chance. Under pressure from the head of their department they are forced to make a case against Gaines even though he has not sold any drugs to them and thus begins the twisted story. Folded in to this amazing drama is the story of true love, friendship, and ultimate sacrifice. Jason Patric gives an extrodinary performance as Jim Raynor, the troubled officer who takes more interest in his job than he maybe should, and Jennifer Jason Leigh supports a hefty role by performing in a convincing and truly empathetic partner to Patric's character. This movie is a roller coaster of emotions ranging from confused to tearjerking but in this humble writer's opinion, a true classic movie about the depths of drug abuse and the miracle of love, definitely 5 stars.
