Sign In 1 out of 2 users found this helpful the dad is not dumbI didn't really know what to expect when I walked into the theater with my family and another couple from church. The animation was totally amazing, the 3D effects were done very well. I think the plot was pretty good considering, and the vocal talent was very good. Whoever wrote the script must have had a lot of fun because my entire group was laughing our heads off for the entire movie. Some might think that the references to other movies and the puns were cheesy, but I thought they were very clever. Since it's 20th Century Fox, they were able to use a lot of the Star Wars stuff in the movie, and they made it very easy to point them out, especially since Episode II was so fresh in our minds. The mix of humor, pop culture, and nostalgia were really put into this movie. We almost died of laughter after Aunt Fanny majorly cut the cheese, resulting in the death of a lightpost. The music was put in appropriately in their respective scenes, such as the guys listening to a modern rap song in the front of Big Weld's car while Aunt Fanny is swooned by Barry White's voice in the back.
The family values are the best that I have ever seen in a present day movie. The Dad was seen as a supportive parent who encouraged his son to follow his dream even when things were getting pretty rough. Just a couple of weeks before we saw this movie, my Dad had been complaining that all of the major kid's movies made the Dads look dumb and like idiots. Robots changed that outlook completely. There was what some might call very crude family type jokes that only those who know would get. Examples are the part where the bathroom doors show an outlet and a plug in to designate which is the Men's and Women's.
I missed my school's Sadie Hawkins Dance as a result, but I do not mind it one bit. This is by far one of the best animated movies I have ever seen, and that's after seeing Toy Story 1 & 2 along with Finding Nemo and The Incredibles. Was this review helpful? Unlike some Children's movies, I wasn't sitting there looking at my watch every 5 minutes, waiting for it to end. Highly recommended for the whole family! Was this review helpful? I didn't doze off and found the story to be a good moral lesson. I will buy this one and that is saying a lot. I don't buy these things any more, but this one is a buyer... Was this review helpful? He was entertained by this film and I was happy watching him enjoy the movie.
Personally, I wouldn't spend the money to rent this film. It will be on TV soon enough. Was this review helpful? I do believe this is one of the greatest family movies of my time. It's full of humor for kids, and that humor for adults that the kids don't get. This movie is just an overall fun movie to go to. Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful RobotsThis creative endeavor into the world of living machines gives strong attention to detail, delighting the adult while retelling a story which needs to be heard often by children and adults; "be true to yourself, find joy in who you are, follow your dreams". No sexual innuendos, except possibly the comment in the opening scenes "It's more fun making a baby" as they come unassembled in a box. Faces of the robots were full of emotion, and their characters were well developed. I loved that the boy maintained his positive relationship with his parents, and was never ashamed of them. Funny, scary and the " good conquers evil" moral comes through without being preachy. Witty dialogue sans sarcasm. Mechanical scenes that would make an engineer squeal with glee.

It rambled on about many things but there really wasn't a reason why this movie needed to be made or a reason why robots were used instead of people. There was nothing unigue about it and I got tired of the fart and urinating gags. I felt that the effort to make this movie cute was overdone and would not recomend it to anyone over the age of twelve. Was this review helpful? We laughed heartily and not always at the same time. There was lots of humor for the young ones and lots of humor left over for me (and all adults). Robin Williams is absolutely wonderful (of course) and all the characters are fun to watch and get to know. There were a few touching moments as well and this helped round out the movie. I recommend seeing ROBOTS. LET yourself enjoy it and you WILL enjoy it! Was this review helpful? Robin Williiams was hilarious as was most of the other quirky Robots. Amanda Bines and Halle helped to really hold the story together. thank you Pixar for some real family fun entertainment!
