It was very well done, and I think it had a better ending. The reason that I only gave it three stars was because I still was a little confused about some of the things in there. If I hadn't seen ";The Ring"; first I would not have known what was going on. Was this review helpful? I could not stop laughing, from start to finish it was hilarious. The movie was chalked full of non-sequiters and unimportant details that you could watch it without subtitles and know just as much as the person who had subtitles. I highly recommend watching this film if you want a good laugh. Was this review helpful? I hated the story about that crazy ring and how they showed the face of that girl. they destroyed the story. I really enjoyed the original one!! It was a very beautiful actress!!!!!!!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 7 out of 8 users found this helpful This is the original ";Ring"; flick, directed by Nakata. I heard about it when all the buzz about ";The Ring"; was going around online, and decided to see if I could nab a copy. If you have Kazaa (and a ton of time!), you can download the original version in Japanese with English subtitles. Now outright, the original doesn't have the same creepy special effects that the remake has (i.e., the video is shorter and doesn't make your skin crawl as much, you don't get to see the decayed bodies of the high school chick or the ex... so on.), but if you sit through it and allow yourself to get into the mood, you'll get thoroughly creeped out. Good use is made of the music to set the mood, and you'll notice this right from the start when the cast list comes up. It just gives you this feeling of dread. The ending is also a lot more clear than that of the remake. All in all, a good flick. You have to let yourself get ";in the mood"; for this one; the first time I watched it, I was too busy trying to compare it to the remake... but the second time around got me creeped out ^_^!
