Unfortunately, the movie ruins that music. To begin, the songs are much better when seen live. Also, the movie only has some of the songs from the stage version. The songs that were left out are some of the best songs in the entire play. The movie was a semi-good adaption, but it can never compare to the real show. Rent is just a musical that would never make a good movie without changing it too much. The movie version was changed too much. Go see the play. I recommend the movie but dont let it be your only opinion of rent. Was this review helpful? ---This movie is a fag filled, lesbian licking tribute to AIDS and the people that because of one bad lifestyle choice after another they end up dead,dying or just totally messed up. Every character was a loser surronded by other losers. And even for a musical there was too much damn singing. There really was no plot or story. I knew the movie would be crap but my wife wanted to see it.Even she wanted to walk out before it was over. Since I had spent 17 bucks I made her stay till the end. Besides, the fag looked like Jada Pinkett and was cute and I wanted to see more lesbian action and Rosario Dawson dance around half naked. Next time Ill just rent a porn movie.---
o.k...so are you saying that you have never made a bad lifestyle choice? And you sit there typing about fags but then condradict yourself and say you wanted to see more lesbian action??? Youre a typical disgusting, narrow-minded, alpha-male air-head with no sense of love or compassion yourself.
Second, to all that say this movie is for non-christians and people with no worthwile values...wtf...this movie is basically about Loving one another...youre saying love isnt a worthwile value to have????
O.K. that said and out of my system...this is a truly spectacular movie that has made its way to my favorite movie...Angel is a representation of how we all need to be I loved him...I balled the last hour of the movie and im a guy...lol I would give this movie a billion stars if I could...go and see it...you wont be sorry...Im a Bohemian...im an artist and to me, this compares to the magnificance to the Mona Lisa...

Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful boring boring oh yeah boring!i like musicals from grease (my favorite) to even the disney channel original movie high school musical, these were entertaining but rent the movie i dont think so. the broadway version is absoutely amazing but it just doesnt work as a movie i know that its a musical but there is way too much singing and its way too long its painful!! This movie not only is painful but boring!!!!! It has an important message but it seems like there is little little dialogue. Im sure this is a film some are gonna like but its just utterly nothing special and unmemorable. Was this review helpful? Theres absolutly nothing wrong with it. You cant help being attracted to the same sex. Besides, what does it matter? People are people, no matter what sex you are attracted to.

This movie is awesome. I love the songs, and was so happy when I got the soundtrack for my birthday. They do swear in this movie a few times, but seriously, kids in middle school and up use this language. There is MiMi, who is on drugs, and that one guys girlfriend has him hold her arm while she injects drugs into her, but thats it. All in All, Id recommend it to anybody that likes good movies. I have seen it on Broadway and the movie went right along with it. It was so much better made than the Phantom of the Opera which I could not stand in movie form but as far a musical form was great. If you have not seen this movie I would recomend it to you. Make sure to watch the DVD extras also it tell the story of Jonathan Larson who wrote the musical and how it took him 15 years to write. This movie made my outlook on life change forever. I soooo looked up to angel in this movie. To me, she was the best character in the movie. And Collins and hers romance is the sweetest that I have ever seen.
Everybody needs to see this movie. I watch it everyday and I still cry every day when I watch it. When I listen to the music, I think OMG, this is the best music I have ever heard. Story line awesome!!

MY Review Rent is amazing. The music is awesome and I love the song Maureen and Joanne sing together (Take Me Or Leave Me). Kudos to Mr. Larson for creating such a controversial play and to Mr. Colombus for making it into such a great film. Was this review helpful? I never heard of it before, and I never saw the previews, but my fiends said that we were going for the heck of it. I was hooked instantly. They can all sing. And I CRIED!!!!!!!! The Last half hour was so sad, i loved it. After the movie, all I could think about was RENT this and RENT that, and I cant wait to see it again. My dad got me the soundtrack for my birthday, which made me relly want to see it again. Finally, I bought it the first day it came out on DVD, and I was happy.

I think people dont except this movie because they dont want to face or show their kids reality. The first time I sat down to watch this movie I was not impressed. it was a little hard to fallow at first. But, after I watched it again and picked up on more things I started to enjoy it. Every time you see this movie you find out more and more things. Whenever I see this movie I just start to cry from the beginingbecause I know whats going to happen. From when it first opens with the cast singing, Seasons of Love, one is totally captivated. The songs are enthralling and you are willed to sing along. The charactors are deep, and by the end you feel you know them as well as your own friends. Through the last 45 minutes, tears will be streaming down ones cheaks, as they were for me. Rent has a beautiful and untouchable message, centering about nothing being permanate and living each moment as ones last. I reccomend this movie for everyone.
This movie would be good for viewers 12 and up. Although many adults say that this is not appropriate for teenagers, I strongly disagree. Most people in middle and upper schools use language just as strong. Sure, Mimis on drugs, however there are no real drug refrences. There are gay and lesbian couples, but I dont see why people keep on freaking out about this. Gays and lesbians cannot help their sexual oreantation. Do you think that if they had a choice, they would much rather be straight? Cause most would. STOP DISCRIMINATIONG AGAINST THEM! Besides, the most important part of Rent is the message, which more people need to hear. Rent can change peoples lives, and we need to spread it rather then saying OMG! Homosexuals! Dont watch it!
