Star studded, great acting, realistic contemporary moral dilemma. How far should we take it in getting information from people who are possible but not certain suspects in a terrorist plot... Should we apply the same judicial rules for them like everyone else or should we treat them like animals without rights on suspicion alone? The movie displays this dilemma almost to perfection. I did not think the movie was going to be this good at all but I was wrong. The actors played their roles really well and the story is amazing. Unfortunatelly knowing that the story was based on real events made me feel ashamed to be an American. I recommend everyone to watch this movie. Was this review helpful? Although they had good actors, I don't think the charactors behaved in a realistic way to what was going on. It was kinda wierd. The end was stupid and unbelievable. Redition is a sad attempt on the part of Hollywood to distort a story based upon factual events. If the truth had been presented, it would have been a much more acceptable movie. As it is, it is fiction and could have been an episode on 24 hours.
However, because of it's theme, I'm sure it wull sweep the academy awards to make a statement. Was this review helpful? I loved everything about it: the cast, the acting, the sets, the screenplay, and especially the beautiful photography. I just hope with all my heart that art only imitates life, and I hope that not a single word, not a single scene, and not a single idea from this film is anywhere near truth. Sign In 2 out of 2 users found this helpful RenditionPosted: 10/20/2007A review of Rendition by InfrastructureServices I thought this was a good film, a plausible story, and certainly deserved more than a single star by any reviewer (especially when you compare it to some of the films critics are rating higher...). The subplot about what was going on just prior to the bombing incident in Cairo that triggered the arrest of the wrong Egyptian man by our US gov't., was revealed to viewers as a running flashback, and played by excellent Arab actors who were, to varying degrees, involved with or related to the terrorist group who planned the bomb. It was dramatic, not to mention tragic. One couldn't help wonder if this wasn't somehow based on a true story - even though it's total fiction, it seems that if any of us did ever happen lose a loved one to a rendition, we'd have ABSOLUTELY NO RECOURSE unless we happened to know someone on the Hill. And even that approach didn't help (in the film). Meryl Streep was excellent, as always, and I loved her playing the role Southern (Texan, ostensibly).
