Posted: 4/20/2006A review of Raising Arizona by Disappointed_Critic
You cant deny that this is the greatest Coen brothers movie ever. If you want to see a dark comedy, then this is it. Dont go out and rent a dark comedy, like that one with Eddie Murphy playing a vampire. Id prefer to watch this movie any Saturday during the summer when theres nothing else worth doing. It just makes the bordem easier to accept. Ive heard that a lot of Coen Brothers movies dont make sense, but this one does make sense. Its about a couple that cant have children of their own, nor can they adopt one. Then they become desperate. Finally, they decide to steal one from the owner of an unpainted furniture store, who jokes that he and his wife have more than they can handle. That causes like a widespread panic in the state. Nathan Sr. finally becomes desperate to have a bounty hunter track down Nathan Jr. for the reward of 5000. First, H.I. gets into a fight with his buddies from prison that literally trash his place, then he gets into a fight with the bounty hunter. At one point, you think hed lose the fight, but he pulls the pin off one of the grenades on his vest. He stumbles to find the right grenade, and WHAMO, he disinigrates. In the end, H.I. and Ed take Nathan Jr. back to Nathan Sr. It really is a great movie. It has tons of humor. I love it.
