It's a great family movie, but I was expecting it to be more well...suspensful. But, why America again? And again, and again in the inro? Well, I don't know why I didn't direct the movie. Might as well be saying "Another UFO has landed in America, the only place UFO's seem to land." It was worth the $money$ and time, I just thought it could a bit better. Was this review helpful? I really don't remember seeing it the first time around which could be a good thing. The special effects were pretty good and the movie was fast paced and never dull. I love the Rock and AnnaSophia Robb is absolutely wonderful. The UFO convention was fun and my son enjoyed all the Star Wars wannabes. All in all, a truly enjoyable move. As for a Disney movie without talking animals, a definite plus in my book. Was this review helpful? A clean easy to follow plot, A plot that has quit a bit of action for adults and kids alike. Forget the cheesy lines in the movie...the kids will love it. When the movie ended the kids in the theater applauded as if to say to Disney...We want more. I was very happy with the movie in a respect to the earlier Escape to Witch Mountain and Return to Witch Mountain. This one did not falter, it stuck to the origional and kept us at the edge of our seat. The action was non-stop and the speacial effects were what we were expecting...very good. Great Job, forget what the nay sayers will say...this is not Transformers, or Alien vs Predator..it is what it is...A good family freindly film that attempts to keep the WHOLE family entertained and does one hec of a job doing it. Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful  rocks a hackPosted: 3/17/2009A review of Race to Witch Mountain by rtstuff2 kind of movie that kids under 13 will like, but anyone with a discerning eye for real talent will find annoying. this is the kind of movie that utilizes the best of rocks lack of real acting chops and finds a simplistic role that he can play, albeit barely. you could of taken nearly anyone off the street to play the rocks role. this is no stretch from his previous tough guy roles, but he should be given credit for being likeable which apparently is the main goal for selling this movie to young kids.
there is nothing quirky about this movie that made the original interesting. the acting is flat, and not very memorable. nothing was done in this movie that wasnt done before, only done by better actors. trying to do redo what accomplished actors christopher lee, eddie albert and bette davis were a part of only leaves 'witch mountain' comparisons that are going to leave all but the best actors looking like disheveled hacks. No, it isn't Shakespeare, but it was entertaining and sweet. AnnaSophia Robb is quite the actress. It's a good movie to take the kids to without requiring a lobotomy for us parents. Mom saw originial, dad claims he didn't. Mom would have gone to a different show if the times would have been better. Mom had the most fun of the three. The movie was exciting, not overly loud and stimulating (son disagrees). Lots of funny moments and it kept us all on the edge of our seats. Several cameos. No extreme violence. Enjoyable special effects. Many times better than expected and it made for a good day. Was this review helpful? The rock is above average and there is something to be said for copied FX's but all in all the kids in the theater @ 60% capacity seemed restless much of the time.
