So, I have read the book and I have found no real similarities. Stuart Townsend was a great choice for Lestat, I agree with others that Tom Cruise wasn't a great choice in Interview with a Vampire. Marguerite Moreau was awful as Jesse. Everything from her wardrobe to her facial expressions; fell very flat. I was not impressed; especially in the alley when she first meets Lestat, she was very wimpy. Then in the end when she returns to see David, she is not convincing. Oh well, can't win them all! Over all I thought the movie was good, the soundtrack is incredible, Jonathan Davis is an excellent singer/songwriter. I did have a hard time figuring out who some of the other characters were and what purpose they served.

I think queen of the damned is a very good movie in it's self. I enjoyed it immensely. But, it really doesn't have that much to do with the book. I thought of it as a separte entiety from the book. the casting was good and bad. Yes, stuart was sexy, but his accent was crap, and he was supposed to have blue eyes and blonde hair. Same with Vincent. Aaliyah was my favourite casting, but her skin was supposed to be white. A few things that i found the most confusing was the fact that lestat could go out into the sun when he drank some of her Akasha's blood and be completely unharmed, the fact that i had absolutely no idea who was who at the end, and that marius was lestat's maker. But if i hadn't of read the book before i saw the movie it wouldn't of mattered. I wouldn't of known these things weren't supposed to happen. so, if you haven't read the book, you will like the movie alot more. But it is still a very good movie, so hopefully you will like it even if you have read QotD

This movie is very entertaining. Everything about this movie is just so erotic, exotic, and awesome. After I saw this movie for the first time, I knew I had to have the DVD, and thankfully, I do own it. There were no flaws in this movie anywhere. The only thing that I thought was bad about it was that I was watching it while I was laying down on my bed, and I must have fallen asleep, because I didnt remember anything about the movie. I woke up when Lestat and Akasha were walking away, then the credits started. When I went back and watched it all the way through, without falling asleep, I loved it. It was an awesome experiece with watching this movie. And the one thing thats remarkable about this movie, is that the directors had created this before the death of Aaliyah and at the end, they had this tribute saying, R.I.P Aaliyah 1979-2001. It was just awesome the way that they did that. That, and plus, the soundtrack is wicked awesome. I love this movie. I just dont understand how Tom Cruise played Lestat in Interview With The Vampire. Hes more stupid than gothic. Stuart Townsend is the best Lestat yet. The people that created Interview With The Vampire, shouldve waited until at least now to create that movie. But, its almost 1230 a.m. now and I want to go to sleep. Peace easy, peoples.

So, im doing this compare and contrast essay for my english class. Having read the QOTD by Anne Rice, i decided to see what the movie was to be like. Boy, was i in for a surprise . . . The movie is missing characters, plot and key information to allow the wathcer to understand the complex parts of the book that was explained. I agree that no movie is like its book word by word, but at least get the Maker of Lestat right! so you introduce a character and end up killing him off a few scenes later, big deal! at least those of us who have read the book will be pleased during the movie. And what happened with the story to the Twins? why only Maharet what about Mekare? even the dreams didnt happen. Lestat was with marius and was asked if he could hear Akasha coming... Lestat was not supposed to be aware she was coming! HE was supposed to be oblivious! And should not marius been buried in ice at that time? to cut my rantings a lot shorter If you love the book so much and dont wish for the world in the movie to change the plot from the book, DONT watch it. Just stay in your happy little corner like i wish i had done before it was too late. Sad as it is the movie in general (if you havent read the book or just dont care) isnt half bad. P

The begining of the movie starts out rather slow, and gives you possibly a feeling of brodem, but no doubt it makes up for it 100% later on when we see such drama brought into such a upposed "horror" film. A main point rotates around Lestat (Played by the remarkably good looking Stuart Towsend) being turned into a vampire, learning the struggles and then going to sleep for a long rest. After awakingn and returning to his own home he stumbled upon a struggling rock band and thas where things take off. The band sky rockets, and paranormal reasearchers begin to pick up clues. One of these reasearchers, Jessie, has taken a liking to Lestat and now seems rather attahed, wanting him to not get hurt and even wanting to be like him. Anicient vampires become angry for the secrets that lestat is giving away, but in his own eyes it is all a game and he wants them mad. He gets that wish at his one and only concert where he is attacked. A love from his past, the Queen of the Damned returns and Lestat becomes more powerful then ever. In a struggled between the ancients and the quen, Lestat has to choose rather to save the life of a dying Jessie and turn her, or forever live his life with a woman who wants nothing but blood and sex. I'd have to say it is my favorite movie, and if you liked the movie you will adore the soundtrack. Happy watching!

Now come on guys we all know the movie can't stick to the orginal book letter by word by sentence i honestly admit it was a bad idea putting the two books together because they both were different aspects of the vampire chronicles but the movie came out okay. Stuart Townsend's character protrayal of the Vampire Lestat was incredible and perfect to the tee. Tom Cruise made a terrible lestat in my opinion if anyone read the book the vampire lestat they would have know that lestat was one of the most sensual and sexy erotic vampires and Tom Cruise's portrayal was not Stuart Townsend got that down pay the magnetism and come hither eyes were perfect i thought he was the best potrayal Anne Rice could have for one of the most powerful vampires in her vampire chronicles (but his accent i do admit was terrible i found his irish accent seeping out too often) next was Vincent Perez's portrayal of the ancient Marius he was bloody brilliant (although Marius didn't make Lestat) i also found they were was bond between that helped the plot of the movie considerably he was sexy as hell also thirdly the late great AAliyah her role as the Queen of all (Akasha) was great also but i would have like more explanation on the great Akasha and her past ruling in ancient Egypt and fourthly Jesse i thought she was the weak point of the film the jesse of the talamascan's was more fiesty and sharp wit this jesse was almost yes please no please attitude which was not how jesse was plotted out to be and i was looking forward to so much her role and the excitement she would bring to the film but i was hugely disappointed in that arena well other than that the movie was awesome with a great soundtrack one of the best movie soundtracks in a long time which propelled the film considerably also,

first of all i'd like to say that i feel this is a great movie! its upto date it has sexapeal a good soundtrack and great actors. ive read alot of reviews on this movie and not alot of them are above 2 stars. i think it has something to do with it isnt completly in tune with the book which i agree it isnt. but remember 1. its a movie and 2. wouldnt it be boring if it was exactly the same i mean come on what would be the point in watching it if the director hadnt put some of himself into it. another is that there isnt enough gore well i feel it was intended to show the emotional side of a vampire story not how many people can die and scream. i also believe that townsend did a great job of playing lestat he got his mood right, his sorrow not to mention he has the sexapeal that you look for in lestat (i mean could you really see cruise as a rock star?) and then they throw the he dosent have blonde hair and blue eyes well i feel you cant really see what coulors his eyes are as it is dark through most of the film (vampires derr)maybe they are grey whos to say. then you get book lovers who rate the movie and say its ok for non readers but if you really want to get a feel read the book. well i say dont discard either they are both great but of course they are going to be different you can get more detail out of a book but then again how long does it take you to read a book? exactly could you imagine watching a movie that long it would be titanic all over again (ive never waited so long for a ship to sink)so lay off its a good movie i think it is alot better than near dark and thats suppost to be the best vampire movie ever! cruise did a good job but townsend did a better one.

Anyone who has read the vampire lestat can agree that it is a captivating novel, spellbinding, flawlessly seamed together, an overall masterful work. Queen of the damned (the novel) goes far into the depths of the origins of vampires, something that would not sell well to the masses of bubblegum-pop teenagers who no doubt only went to the movies because of the "blood and guts factor" So, the makers of this movie must have sat down and thought hard to themselves. "Hey, lets take one of rice's most sensuous novels, the vampire lestat, litter it with innacuracies, and then attatch the name QOTD to it because the teenage nimrods dont have a clue who the vampire lestat is", thereby churning out a teen-geared bubblegum movie lacking depth and sincerity. On the other hand, as a movie, I found it enjoyable. Townshend does a remarkable job playing Lestat, blonde hair and blue eyes becoming casualties to the script, but this is hollywood, so it's all right. The soundtrack was amazing, Jon Davis is a genius, deliciously capturing the flavor of the movie, and the concert scene was awesome. Still, I left the movie watching the 13 year old girls who thought that they were now some sort of "gothic experts", sighing to myself, "its magnus, not marius, MAGNUS!, Marius was only his friend, not his maker!" But watching Stuart Townshend in leather pants? Its worth the price of swallowing my literary dignity.

I was surprised by some of the ratings for Queen Of The Damned, for I thought they were a little low. I think that most veiwers were dissapointed, because they excpected more gore and sex. But from my veiw, it had everything. A hot guy and hot girl, good effects, good music, thrown in with a gothic style, it was pretty damn good.

I've read all of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and QOTD was my one of my favorite books. This film does not do justice to the book. They changed the plot of the movie into a love story to make it more compelling (the book was a love story, but they changed the love intrest of Lestat). They left out key scenes that would help in the understanding of the film. Stuart Townsend is Irish not french and his accent shows through, confusing the watcher, as well, Lestat has brown hair in the film instead of blonde.<br>The combination of 2 books ruined this film. I hope they do a better job on The Tale of the Body Thief if they make a movie of that.<br>Jon Davis did a great job writting and singing the songs for The Vampire Lestat. The soundtrack is a must for all viewers of the movie.

Excellent movie, the entire time. It takes the old stereotypical slaying of the 'vampire' to a whole new level. Instead of flaming to dust, killing the queen was as if she was infected by a plague blasting into a sandstorm of charred particles. This film was fantastic and innovative, in regard to the typical history of 'vampire'<br>films.

Queen of the Damned comes to , well... life(sort of..) This movie was not all that bad. I did like the fact that they had at least One actress (Aliyah.. RIP..) that knew what she was doing!<br>If you have ever read the book, then you know that she was dead on when she portayed Akasha!<br>Staurt Townsend however was not that impressive as Letsat. Tom Cruise was better, and because of this, it seemed that Lestat reverted back to infancy. townsend is good, but a vampire not he makes.<br>My particular scene that was most enjoyed were the scenes that involved Marius and Lestat. although they screw up in saying that Lestat was &quot;turned&quot; by Marius, it was indeed MAGNUS that did it. Painfully because of this it also works to be my least favorite scene(s) next to the &quot;hollywood&quot; setting. On the VHS/DVD extras you will encounter a 4 minute long scene that introduces who the vampires are. for those of you who don't know these vampires, watch this scene first then the movie, you'll under stand better!<br>the only real flaw was that Anne rice wasn't really consulted. That bieng the key issue; you will understand the certain storyline failings of this movie.<br>On the flipside, they do have Blade2 beaten to a bloody pulp because they did stay true to form in using &quot; vampires are people&quot; tactics and proving that they do know what they are doing, and that's trying to stay faithful to Anne Rice's work.<br>the first time i saw it i poimted out evry single flaw, but a second time did indeed reflect the issues i have pointed out.<br>All in all, the movie was worth the time and money spent.<br>so, enjoy th movie and read the book! they are both great!<br>
