As a huge Jane Austen fan I can say that this movie does not do the book justice. The only thing that was any good about it was the actors being closer to the age of the characters in the book, everything else just stripped away the beauty of the story. There was practically no character development, diologue was butchered, the background missrepresented (Longbourn estate looked like a hovel, and Pemberly like a museum, come on why were there busts in the entry hall.... and don't get me started on the characters's appearance, for the most part all were sloppy and dingy). Yes there were some pretty scenery shots, but they did absolutely nothing to help the movie. Overall this was one of the worst Austen movie adaptations that I have seen , and I would recommend watching the AE version any day over this one.

This is among the best movies I have ever seen. I can watch it and rewatch it, it is so good. I especially love the piano music and would love to have a copy of it to practice. I have read the book, and the movie is just as good, if not better. I would recommend this movie to all people who like romance and history. It is fun to watch the culture of the time period. Wonderful movie!

I was in this movie as the busker in the market place. What you don't see is the fact there is sellotape over the fiddles' strings whilst filming. The jigs were played to a wild track with the whole cast and crew standing in complete silence whilst I recorded them in situ. - the first time ever I have had a standing ovation for busking! Shame the extra's fee didn't reflect it and there was no credit given... Still a good film though and beautifully shot.

I've read the book & I like this movie (I like the mini series more though), some stuff was cut out, some stuff was changed, but it's good for someone who hasn't read the book or wants to watch the short-cut version of it. I might buy it. :P

This movie was breathtaking, and very moving. If there was ever someone that feels a movie they chose to act out, it would be Matthew Macfayden. I never get sick of this movie, and I watch movies often. It becomes more and more livelike every time I watch it. An actor that I hope to see in many more movies to come. A truely gifted individual, you don't see actors that move you that often anymore. Can't wait to see the next movie he's in. If there was ever a hope that a man could be that romantic in this world, thats not an actor. A Passionate Man!!!!

This film is simply amazing. I did not really enjoy the Emma Thompson and Colin Firth version, but this movie, with brilliant performances by Keira Knightley, Matthew Macfayden and everyone else, absolutely rocked.

The book was good - the movie even lovelier. It is now my favourite movie romantic, funny, and beautifully filmed. The scene where Lizzie is standing on the edge of a cliff is one of my favourites - the scenery is gorgeous. Pride and Prejudice is a lovely film.

I have to say fitting one of the most wonderful classic books of jane austen into a 2 hour film is hard to do but i think the latest Pride and Prejudice really shows it can be done. Keira Knightley played a well Elizabeth Bennet and became her character instantly and Mr Darcy played by Matthew Macfayden was brilliant. Every scene reflected the beauty of the countryside and the music matched the emotions and feelings of the characters so well. Each scene was better than the last. I give this film a 5 star review as i truly believe it was a fabulous film and deserves the highest of ratings.

This is one o fthe best movies of ALL time! I am not lying when I say I have watched it probably 20 times. The actors were great and everything was brilliant! The part in the rain was beautiful and I give it all the thumbs and toes up that I have! I recommend this movie to anyone who has a heart, to anyone who has any feelings. It WILL make you fall in love.

Its been so long since there has been a group of actors that worked so great together that make the viewer keep thinking about the movie all the time. Miss Elizabeth and Mr Darcy are the best couple I have seen lately. I really love this movie and Mr Darcy and congratulations to all the stars.

This was well worth seeing. Heres why THE STORYLINE - Im sick to death of reality shows. This has a great story complete with love, moral lessons, and the complexities of social intereactions. THE CAST - Knightly was extremely well cast as the witty, alluring Elizabeth Bennett. Actually, the Bennett family as a whole was extremely well done. I was thrilled that Blethyns Mrs. Bennett had been tamed since the BBC Miniseries screeching, obnoxious version. The Bingleys looked like they could very well have been siblings. MacFayden did a very good Mr. Darcy, but it is not quite up to par with Colin Firths portrayal in the miniseries (poor fellow, that was a hard one to follow). THE SCENERY - Gorgeous...breathtaking...and exceedingly well-shot. There were scenes that were a little too realistic for me (think mud, weeds, pigs and the like - I tend to enjoy the glossed over version of life in the movies), but I think in this case it lends credibility. Yes, some content was left out...but how else do you expect to fit J.A.s novel into a 2 hour time slot?

I cant believe the critic for this site gave this movie 4 stars Im being perfectly honest when I say that this was worst movie I have ever seen. Period. This is the first movie review Ive ever written on a movie, and I felt motivated to do so simply because this movie was so horrible in every single way. First and foremost, the two main leads, Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet and Matthew Macfayden as Mr. Darcy, were both terrible in their roles. Im appalled that Knightley received and Oscar nomination for her role. I mean, if it was a nomination for a LACK of acting she should have been nominated AND won. She seemed to be just reading her lines from the script, without adding any personality or expression to the words. Her total interpretation of Elizabeth Bennet in general was horrible she acted completely ditsy and air-headed. As for Macfayden as Mr. Darcy, he was horrible. Like Knightley, he just seemed just to read his lines from the script. However, he read them in a monotone, without any expression or emotion at all. He was, overall, just terrible in this role. Also terrible in the acting in this movie was Simon Woods as Mr. Bingley, who is suddenly portrayed as a clown-like buffoon, complete with a Bozo the Clown hair-do and a vacant, idiotic grin. It seems that Jane Bennet, also portrayed as an air-headed twit, is suited to him, according to this horrible movie. And suddenly, Caroline Bingley is turned into the storys resident skank. During the ball at Netherfield, she wears what would have been considered in that era undergarments. Likewise, Elizabeths friend, Charlotte Lucas, is cast as an old hag.

I thought this movie was fantastic and yes I have read the book. Of course, the dialoge in the book is so much better and sometimes I got irritated that they seemed to mimic the book word for word but it really is a wonderful movie. All the characters are cast just right, Macfayden was georgeous and perfect for the role, Knightly was lovely and spirited, and the sisters were just as ditzy as I imagined them to be, Jane was quiet and pretty, and basically everything was as good as I hoped for. Its extremely hard to make a movie adaption of a novel and every nit-picking critic should realize that. This movie deserves five stars and an extra one for Macfayden.
