It has alot of action, a good taste of humor, some romance, and a bit of horror, (though, I wasnt scared of the pixelated pirates in the moonlight.)
I have one thing to say to all the adults who have young kids. I read some reviews where the moms and dads say that they should have never watched this movie because of some of the scary scenes that left their child traumatized in this movie and are blaming Disney, the director, or their neighbor for reccomending that they watch Pirates. There is an old saying that I have learned, called, think before you watch, in other words, LOOK AT THE CONTENT RATING FIRST BEFORE WATCHING THE MOVIE, whether it is DISNEY or NOT. Because you never know when you will find another PG_13 PIRATES MOVIE IN DISNEY, Ye hear??? Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful should have wrote this long agoPosted: 7/14/2006A review of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl by persephone807 I went out and saw the second one on its first day. i had to watch this for the umpteenth time to remember the fun from this one. i saw part 2 so fast because i fell in love ,like a lot of people, with this one. I still tell people how in 2003 i was so exited about Hulk and so disappointed by Hulk. the trailors i remember most about POTC were vague and did not show a glimpse of the plot mostly water. i was not even interested it. i had been a fan of the old Sinbad movies with the Harry Haunsen monters that i dragged my son to see the cartoon Sinbad. He liked it and since Sinbad was a pirate i thought wed go see that other pirate movie. i remember getting wind of the skeleton pirate part and was afraid it would be too scary for my son he was 6. I saw new trailors and thought Johnny Depp looked good as a pirate so i became interested in it. i found clips and showed it to him he was okay with it. i know we saw it after it had been out for a few months. First surprise was that the movie theater was packed normally they were empty that far after a movie release. I remember not wanting the movie to end at the first trip to the island i was glad when it continued. i was floored by the club hauling scene when the ships lined up and battled. Second surprise im a fan of johnny depp. My favorite 21 jump streeter at the time it was on was Peter Deliouse. theres something about the way he looked at the camera while saying the last line. my favorite movies of his are the ones where he has long hair. he and Clark Gable have something in common. Third surprise my son and i kept talking about it for weeks after we saw it. we talk dont much about the second one. im glad disney it marketing this movie better with a line of action figurs and toys. i want to go on but i cant i have no more space. For those of you with kids that age, it wont be quite as entertaining unless you are someone who spends time oogling at Orlando Bloom. Shame on you if you do! I found myself looking at my watch to see how much time had passed without a plot developing deep enough to keep me engaged. Just when there started to be an interesting twist, the credits rolled. Essentially these movie is a teaser for the third movie. If you have not seen the first movie in a while, I would recommend watching it again - otherwise the ending will be lost on you. I mean, theres too much in this movie that makes it great. For starters, Johnny Depp playing a good guy for once is enough to receive my five stars. And honestly, everytime youll watch this movie, youll fall in love with it. I am seriously wanting to see more of these movies, especially Dead Mans Chest. Johnny Depp was the right man for the job in this movie. He just has that likeness to him. In his movies, you will either love him or hate him thats just who he is. I couldnt understand him in Gilbert Grape either. That movie is serious trash. But I hope the other Pirates of the Caribbean movies arent disappointments, because the first one is just too amazing. I think the other movies will be as successful, if not more, than this movie was. But hey, its time for me to get back to work now. Peace easy. Was this review helpful? Jack is, like, my soul mate...he just doesnt know it! the movie rawked, the acting rawked, special effects rawked and it was a GREAT movie!

I unfortuanatly didnt see it in theaters, but i will definitly see dead mans chest in theaters.
