I am not a Seth Rogan fan, and not a pot-head. So I thought there wouldn't be much for me to like about this movie. But I was wrong. I can't remember the last time I laughed so much. I thouroughly enjoyed this entire movie.
I love it when people rent movies like this and think there is going to be some grand message about the world or society, and then they get upset when it's just a bunch of raunchy jokes and guys getting high. It's not a commercial for the joys of getting high and being unemployed (I'm not even sure why someone said that because all of the characters had jobs??) You have to understand that smoking pot is the catalyst to the story. They're not necessarily advocating pot smoking, they just kind of assume that if you are watching this movie you really don't care.
My advice... get over yourself, and laugh at a funny movie. (This was a funny movie!) Was this review helpful? I rented it for me and my husband to watch, but at least he made the smart decision to quit watching it after the first 20 minutes. I think this script had to be written by people who were stoned, so they could imagine their movie as being funny.
Save your money and rent the Cheech and Chong movies if you really want something to make you laugh! You don't even have to be a potsmoker "to relate" or enjoy their movies. I am suspicious that the film producers signed on under assumed names, or that those who liked it were so stoned they could have watched traffic with the same enthusiasm.
I like Cheech & Chong and the whole drug culture; but this movie is so DULL. One stupid, contrived and lame situation after another. I respect the skill of the actors but what can they do with a script like this. My mistake, I guess; I should have gotten high before seeing this film. Was this review helpful? I can believe that this type of movie is still showing in the theathers. It seems that the producer is an previous or current drug user... To this question, I think this movie is promoting the drug usages in America. The movie indicates that it was OK to smoke Weeds and unemployed. The movie is very silly. If you are a drug user, you will treated like "James Bond," 007. PLEASE DON'T LET YOUR CHILD SEE THIS MOVIE. At any rate, I was very excited to see this movie and I wasn't disappointed. Laugh out loud funny, at times touching, and always entertaining, Pineapple Express is worth seeing more than once. It is so hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing throughout the whole movie. It had a good plot. The ending was good too..
