The movie is a typical Peter Weir movie with all its unanswered myteries. He has repeated such "lack of answers" in "The Trueman Show", "The Dead Poet's Society", "The Fearless". Through out the movie Peter Weir successfully weaves the eerie environment combined with a sublime flow of sensuousness and mystery. The goal of the movie perhaps was not to find an answer to a real-life happenning but to explore an era, perhaps to unearth hidden truths of life or women's life, perhaps to gift the movie-goer with long staying thoughts. The lack of dialogues, the sound of silence of the picnic spot, the hush-hush among the girls - all spoke so well so clear. Here lies the success of the director. Thanks to him for making such a movie for viewers like us who want to think over artistic creations rather than coming to conclusion. The movie was (is) a journey and not a destination.
