It tells the story of a mother recently divorced (Jodi Foster) who is house hunting with her young, strong level headed daughter (Kirtsen Stewart) And they find an amazing bargin. A huge house with a special quality, a Panic Room hence the tittle. They jump at the offer. But when three dangerous strangers break in on the first night of their stay, knowing exactlywhat they are looking forand determand to get it at any cost they must remain in the Panic Room with many complications, like the daughter being diabetic, the mother being claustrophobic and the invaders willing to risk it all to get a hold of what they want it all leaves you on the edge of your seat. The cast is perfect and Foster gives an amazing performance. Highly recommended! Was this review helpful? And to those who say it was great, or thrilling, I say, you are one sad individual. I literarily felt like smacking each one of those actors, and who ever the h*ll came up with the script for the movie. Horrible acting, plot, time administration… The movie could have been good if some thought was put into it. I’m so p*ssed right now, that’s how bad that piece of a movie was. PLEASE, DON’T SEE IT! How could a woman and her daughter go into a panic room to hide from three burglers be scary? I don't get that. Maybe the previews had everyone thinking it was gonna be a scary movie. Nah, it's just a thriller. Anywho, this is a great edge-of-your-seat thriller. All the time, I was like, "What's gonna happen next?", "Don't do that!" and all of that stuff we like to yell out loud. Jodie Foster gave a good performance and Dwight Yoakum plays the villan brilliantly. And it has its humorous moments. Overall, it's a good thriller, but still comes nowhere close to David Fincher's other thriller Se7en. Was this review helpful? Super performances by all involved and pretty intense at times. Jody Foster is especially great and you can catch Dwight Yoakim playing another bad dude (Sling Blade, Hollywood Homocide) and a barely recognizable Jared Leto (My So-Called Life) as the rich kid. My heart wasn't beating as fast as it should have been. I didn't feel like one of the charactres trapped in my own house, with no way out. Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Fincher+Foster= An Effective ThrillerPosted: 6/10/2003A review of Panic Room by Anonymous In this clever,intimate thriller,Meg(Jodie Foster)and her diabetic daughter Sarah(Kristen Stewart)move into a brownstone after a recent divorce.The house features a panic room,a room designed to protect people in case of an emergency.The first night of their stay,they must use the room when three burglars(Forest Whitaker,Jared Leto,and Dwight Yoakam)make an unexpected visit.The women soon find out that what the men want is in the panic room.An intriguing game of cat and mouse ensues. Panic Room contains bursts of adrenaline that are very exciting.The cinematography is top-notch. The camera seems to pass effortlessly through floors,walls,and even coffee pot handles.The cool,inventive opening credits make the film visually arresting from beginning to end. Panic Room isn't always intense,but its tensest moments are enough to make a grown man look away from the screen.The violent climax in particular kept me on the edge of my seat.Fincher succeeds in making action sequences that beg for repeat viewing. Foster tackles the lead role with pride.She held my attention until the last half hour(she puts a sweater on).Stewart is memorable as the character whose health conditionheightens the situation.The trio of burglars are fairly believable,especially Whitaker,who the audience grows to admire.My only complaint about this film is it occasionally strains credulity toits limits.Overall,it succeeds as an effectivethriller to pass the time.Go see it! The only problems I had were the following:1) The developpment of characters: This movie doesn't really give you a feel for any of the characters. For example the character of Forest Whitaker could have been a little more elaborated. Also more conflict would have arose had Junior stuck around a bit longer.2) Absurdness: I agree some scences were quite absurd. The sceen in which Junior gets burnt is highly unlikely, but without it, the movie kind of loses it's edge as all other thrillers do without absurd effects.3) The Ending: When I watched this movie we felt sympathy for Whitakers character. I was hoping for some kind of follow-up as to what actually happened after his arrest.This movie was a really good movie, and I would watch it again if I had the chance. Was this review helpful? I suppose I didn't expect a suspense thriller but, although i didn't know it at the time, I was on the edge of my seat and cleching my fists so hard I had muscle cramp at the end of the film.
