who don't like this movie... you are all idiots. Amazing cinematography, amazingly written and played out. Guirremo Del Toro (I don't think I spelled that right) is definitely one of my favorite directors after this movie. I also liked Hellboy and am really looking forward to Hellboy II. I think Del Toro is crazy imaginative and I can't wait to see his future work.

I seen this movie the other day on "On demand". When i read what it was about, i was surprised to see the movie was rated R, mostly because when i seen the previews i expected it to be a kids movie or more of a kidly fairy tale like "Bridge to taribithia". When i watched it the first time, i was absolutely horrified by all the graphic violence that constantly occurs. At first i hated it because it took away from the whole tale. But after the second or third time, i really enjoyed it. It's an awesome movie, and i can't complain about the violence or language, mostly because i'm a horror lover myself lol. It's a good story, awesome effects and visual arts and a really sad story. i'm glad i got to see it! ...I don't remember the faun jacking off in front of the little girl, what scene was that in?

The movie was creative but I have to say, I was a little distracted when the faun started jacking off in front of the little girl. It was subtle, but not that subtle. Didn't anyone else catch that?!

Only if you're blind are u unable to appreciate the beauty and symmetry of this movie, between what is real and what is make belief. Personally, I think this movie was perfect. In every sense of the word. At least, from how I understood the movie. I read a few reviews that stated there was too much drama or senseless violence. However, all the drama and

This movie is not all what it is projected to be by critics. I think the critics rated it high because it was foreign and because of the other movies by the director, so gloating over this lamely categorized movie would help get his name out. Entertainment Weekly's Lisa Schwarzbaum said;

I'd hardly call this a 'fairy tale.' It's a drama with enough violence, mostly without a point, to get an 'R' rating and enough fantasy special effects to fill a couple trailers. It's not a bad movie, it's just in the wrong place. If you like all kinds of drama, this would be nice to see. But if you're looking for another Labyrinth, City of Lost Children, Mirrormask kind of movie, I've a feeling that you'll be disappointed.

This is an amazing, beautiful, and dark movie. The actress who plays the role of Ofelia is genuine and believable as she moves between the real world and a fairy tale, and I was enraptured by the plotline and characters. I read a critic's review where it was stated that it was a shame that the real world and fairy tale world that Ofelia discovers never really come together. I think that it is a better movie with the two worlds seperate because of how Ofelia feels about her life, and the plot (which I will not spoil). I would not recommend seeing this with young children, because of the copious amounts of blood and the violence. Also, if you do not understand Spanish, and you find it difficult to read the subtitles and watch the movie, then you might find it harder to watch. Personally, the subtitles were not a bother. It was an amazing experience and I definitely recommend seeing it!

I have seen literally hundreds of movies over the past decade (what can I say ... it's a hobby), and I can honestly say that I have never seen one like this one! This is probably one of the most unique and distinctive movies that you will ever see. It is a dark and beautifully made blend of fantasy and reality. This is not a sanatized, happy ending fairy tale that we have all been told as kids growing up ... this is the 'alter ego' of the traditional fairy tale ... this is the fairy tale in which 'little red riding hood' meets a fate more horrible than the big bad wolf! Fantastic and intertaining ... well worth seeing.

I had no problem with the subtitles (the translation in English was not exactly what was said in Spanish) and would have considered the movie a fairytale if it wasn't for the macabre events and scenes that took place. From the harsh treatment of her new step-father, to the gruesome murders he commits either by shooting or torture, the movie brought back memories of

This film was truly breathtaking and thought-provoking. The story stays with you long after the movie has ended. I urge everyone that watches it to see past the sub-titles and leave their pre-conceived notions about the film at the door. Sit back and enjoy the stunning imagery, cringe at the terror of war, and cry when you think your heart can't take anymore. Enjoy this film for what it is...a fairytale which will be perceived differently by all that sees it. Watch it and see where it takes you.

I can get pass the fact that the movie is in subtittles, I can get pass the fact that movie theathers dont hand out pillows and blankets for movies like this , and i can also get pass the facts that I am never going to get that worthless 2 hours of my life back. Now about the moive- it isnt a fairy tale like the previews promised, it isnt entertaining, gruesome, and just plain BORING!!!!

The cinematography is unbelievable, the special effects are amazing, and the cast is just phenomenal!! After two hours, i left the theater wanting to see more. It was just an outstanding film and i recommend it for anybody who has imagination and enjoys a great fictional film. I wouldnt take small children though, theres just some parts that may be a little too graphic for them. Its an awesome movie for adults though. So check it out, you wont regret it!

Remarkable statements about real life and history done with high art and all the tools available in todays advanced technology. Too bad our politics and diplomatics has not risen to this high a level.
