Date  Helpful Rating 0 out of 0 users found this helpful  hits home every timePosted: 11/18/2005A review of Once Around by blackbird32503 i recently saw this movie on cable and couldnt believe how delicately the director handled the material. holly hunter and richard dreyfuss not only worked well together, but their individual performaces rate higher than any romantic comedy ive seen in the last 10 years.
gina rowlands is always a favorite of mine, even though this movie does not veer from her usual typecasting as a woman stuck in the midst of family melodrama. she is a strong woman onscreen and this movie allows her to show both sides of that coin--- warmhearted, committed and nurturing while also getting a bit ferocious when it comes to giving an offending personality a piece of her mind. dreyfuss plays the genuine, all right stand-up guy who just doesnt know when too far is too far socially, but he brings out the best in hunters character and theyre great together.
my familys a bit disjointed and just seeing the way adult children and their parents live together once the kids go out and get themselves married is always interesting. this story is warm, funny, and in the end makes worlds of sense.
