I saw "On The Double" when it was first released in the 1940's during it's first run at the Mastbaum Theatre in Philadelphia, Pa. I loved it so much that I followed it to every neighborhood theatre, and there were plenty of those back then. Danny Kaye's performance blew me away, especially when performing the stuff that his wife, Sylvia Fine wrote for him. The plot was so funny, I never tired of watching it. I've seen it many times on TV but that was so long ago, it has not shown for many a year. I've tried, without sucess, to buy a VHS or DVD but it is not available. Dana Andrews and Constance Towers were very good in their secondary roles, but Danny Kaye and Dinah Shore together were fabulous. Dinah with her beautiful voice and great sense of humor, and Danny with not only an extremely pleasing voice, but with an unsurpassed comedic talent. I would pay anything to be able to obtain a copy of this unbeatable film.
