The character of Barbara was so narcissistic, that it was almost frightening. Her ability to manipulate others to her own ends makes one suspect others of their motives, as I'm certain there are many like her in the real world. Overall, I enjoyed the story and the interaction of the characters. The author is to be commended in handling this delicate and too often real subject so well. One question..?? When the HeadMaster of the school confronted Barbara, he said "You sent Jennifer's fiance a (sounded like) 'reef'." Either I misunderstood the word, or failed to grasp the British terminology. Can anyone clarify this for me? I would reccomend this film to others. It was worth the time to watch it. Was this review helpful? It's just a wonderfully well-done film with acting, par excellance. These two women are so convincing, you are glued to your seat, waiting for the next shoe to drop. Go and see it. Sheba gets caught, loses her family, and has to face the media. The film shows the consequences of Shebas actions. Also, the film isnt about that, its about two extremely lonely women, one who is lonely on the inside, even with a family, and the other just flat-out lonely and by herself. They both look for a way out. Cate Blanchett in this movie is my favorite performance. Its amazing! She got completely emotionally naked and was able to show this amazing lonliness and vulnerablility with a person who feels trapped on the inside and who ends up looking for the wrong thing to get out. The theme, well, old hat with a slight twist. Bored with older woman, young, very young, man embroiled in sexual relationship whether there is an older, lesbian, woman who wants the woman or not.

cowardly code for SEXUAL AFFAIR with a 15 yes 15 year old STUDENT.
Leave it to hollywood and their counterparts to glamourize this violation of
the teacher STUDENT relationship!
