We sometimes forget that a marriage is between you, your spouse and God. When friends and family members get involved it becomes a huge mess. The real life struggles that every couple goes through were painfully addressed in this movie. I recommend it to every couple married or dating. It opens your eyes to so much. I hate that it wasn't given more press. In todays society we need movies that also serve as a relationship counselor. It shows that you are not alone in your marital struggle. Although it may be said that the movie carries a high number of stereotypes, the fact remains that the movie gives a true insight of how the family dynamic works. We would like to act as if our extended families don't have a say in our relationships ,but the fact remains if one really took an honest look at their relationship, one would find that these outside forces play a big role in the decisions we make. The movie did a very good job at making people look into their own relationships, and if being honest with themselves, they would see that a great number of decisions that are made are based on what others may "think". The friendships were portrayed authentically. All the characters in this film allow you to see the true and honest working of the urban community. Not everyone will enjoy this movie, because not everyone has lived this experience. But those of us who have, don't see this movie as stereotypical, we see this movie as being an authentic description of our lives that a great many "critic" would like to portray as 'stereotypical african-american storytelling'. As if we need their approval to know our authentic self and if they don't tell us what is authentic then we are too idiotic to understand a good film. We enjoy this movie not because someone has to tell us what a good movie is, but because this movie tells our story and gives us good guidance on how to make our relationships work.
